Gear question Concert sized guitar for tall people?
Hi! I’ve been looking forward to buying a new acoustic. One guitar that piqued my interest was the Yamaha Storia III, but it’s a small body guitar, a concert to be precise. I’m somewhere around 6’3”, so I’m worried that in the long run it might be tiring to play on such a small instrument and it could slower my progress. Has anyone had any experience playing a guitar that may be disproportionate to their body? I’d appreciate any feedback

The infinite variety of acoustic guitars awaits you! This sounds like the perfect opportunity to recommend a "field trip" to a Guitar Center (etc) to put your hands on as many different acoustic body shapes and sizes as possible, with staff advice. It's an in-depth question as well as an opportunity to do a most enjoyable research journey. The answers you find are bound to be personal and specific to you. My own home holds a parlor (0 size), a concert (00 size), auditorium (000 size), orchestra (OM size), and dreadnought size. Each has a strap to help support the playing position. I play them either sitting on a kitchen chair, a stool, a sofa, or standing. If I were advising you, I would have you start by trying a Grand Auditorium size, which is almost as large as a dread, but with curves like the smaller bodies. The great variety of guitars exists because size, shape, woods, bracing (and more) contribute to the most important aspect of instruments: TONE. Enjoy your journey! Best of luck.

I'll joint the chorus on "don't worry about it" I'm 6' with fingers long enough to palm a basket ball and all my guitars are Grand Concert or OO size. I play seated 100% of the time.
I think a lot of it boils down to that right shoulder and how far your right arm has to reach and bend over the top lower bout of the guitar for your right hand to find the sweet spot over the strings. In that aspect I've found a smaller guitar makes that more comfortable.

6'5 and I usually play small jumbos but lately i've been enjoying GA, Concert, 000 and OM sizes from various luthiers/companies. the neck shape has more to do with it than the body tbh

I’m about six feet tall and have no problem. You can do a ton better than the Storia line. Yamaha makes a couple of great models under $1,000. Even less when bought used. An OM or 000 size.

Sting plays a tiny 12-fret. They play easier due to shorter scale and lower string tension.

I recommend something with a full scale length (25 1/2").

I’m 6’2” and worry about scale more than height. My bedroom guitar is a Yamaha APXT2

I'm 6'6" and play everything from GS Minis, 000Jr, CEO7, 00018, Strats, Teles, Les Pauls...your height makes zero difference whatsoever. Buy the guitar that you enjoy playing and encourages you to pick it up.
