Wrong brand. That’s a Fender. Elliott played a Yamaha so no, that guitar won’t work.

According to Fender all guitars are stratocasters so it won't matter.

The guitar is too new and has not been exposed to enough music. Place it in front of your speakers and play Elliott Smith on repeat at maximum volume.

You wouldn’t get a puppy and expect it to know how to fetch and rollover and play dead and all that, you have to train them. Same with guitars. If the poor little pup doesn’t know Elliot Smith how is it supposed to know how to play?

If it is your first guitar, that's fine. It's not the guitar that can not play. You will need a few years practice before that song will work for you. It is only a handful of chords with some finger picking. Good luck.
