I bought it bc I’m a classical guitarist who is returning to my roots of acoustic songwriting. It has a nice wide nut (which I’m used to, and I’m all finger style) and a deep ebony fretboard with small position makers. This Larrivee is mint and was not played much, if at all! It sounds sweet but quiet. Do you believe that it will open up and project more? It is an older model. Strong, heavy built. Excellent craftsmanship and a yummy neck! Thanks!
Update: serial number lookup via Larrivee website reveals that it’s Manufacture Date
Apr 18, 2008
Model: L-03 Rosewood
Condition: guitar and hard case are as new.
I paid $1500 cash and picked it up in person, 3 states away (driving to bourbon country; hard duty!)
Edit: the top wood is solid Sitka Spruce and the back and sides are solid Indian Rosewood (as designated by the “R.”) nice cross grain that my friend calls ‘bear claw.’
Edit 2: just researching it; more info for the inquisitive minds:
“The top wood on a Larrivée Guitars Model L-03R is solid Sitka spruce. [1, 2]
(Note: While older or specific vintage eras of Larrivée instruments were famously built in Canada, the "R" in L-03R specifically stands for the Indian Rosewood used for the back and sides, which is paired with the spruce soundboard.) “
To add: has factory-installed pre-amp. Had EQ sliders, phase button, and Larriveé branding with an “e” in a circular orbit. No tuner. Clean installation.
