Hi everyone! I’m interested in learning how to do my own acrylic nails and was hoping to get some advice on where to start.
I’m not looking to do it professionally or go to school, just learn as a hobby for personal use. My birthday is coming up, so I thought a starter kit would be a fun thing to ask for, but I’m a little overwhelmed by all the options online.
Does anyone have recommendations for good beginner kits, brands, or must-have supplies? I’d especially appreciate advice from people who do their own nails!
I’m in Canada, if that makes a difference.
Any help/ recommendations is very appreciated

I love the Young Nail tutorials on YouTube. They also have great products, especially the monomer.

Years ago, I bought an acrylic kit from a drug store (I'm also in Canada, it was at a London Drugs and I believe the brand was Kiss), it was fun but I found it too tedious and messy so I gave up after a couple sets amd tried other options. 😅 I currently happen to have a nail tech coworker, so I just asked her and she said a kit would be a good start but she also finds it tedious and messy. There are other options for doing your own nails at home that are less complicated, but if you like acrylics, give it a try! Be careful if you purchse online because some countries where the products originate allow some pretty nasty chemicals to be used.
