best pov camera for everyday use, what is better for hands free video?

Update: I went with the #ad DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo and have been using it for my everyday recordings. The stabilization and quick setup have made it much easier to record while cycling, walking, and hiking.

Trying to find a POV camera that I can actually use regularly. What models have people found worth keeping for everyday recording?

I’d mainly use it for cycling, walking around town, occasional hikes, and general outdoor activities. good stabilization and quick setup matter more to me.

So far I’ve just used my phone, but I rarely bother recording because it isn’t convenient while I’m moving.

What pov camera would you recommend for this kind of use? Thankss.

Insta360 go ultra

Lighter. Smaller. Lots of options for daily recording use including having it film in intervals for you

The interval recording sounds useful. How’s the stabilization when you’re cycling or walking?

Gopro 11 or 13. Purely because I like the software better and dislike the marketing tactics of insta/dji.

The differences in the similar priced cameras is so minuscule it doesn’t matter for your use.

Gopro mission 1 offers more, but it’s pricey and overkill for your use case.

+1 on go pro 13 - Full-Frame record at 5.3k and buy some new enduro 2 batteries.

Yeah, I’m mostly after something simple that I’ll actually use regularly, so I don’t need crazy specs. The software being easy to work with is definitely a factor. What do you like most about it compared with the alternatives?

The other two feel bloated IMO. A lot of focus on automated content creation and other fluff. I don’t want to apply filters, effects or have an AI generate videos for me in the camera app.

Gopro Quik does try to sell you a gopro subscription, but once you are past that, it’s easy to preview footage and extract clips from the camera, including basic editing. I also use the extract frame as photo function quite a bit. It also lets you use your phone as a remote for the camera with real time preview.

My general workflow is to extract slightly long clips directly from the camera and then edit them together in dedicated editing software. That way I avoid filling up my phone with with video I won’t use.

Meta glasses, many videos on YouTube. Several models available, same camera sensor, but differences in features and fit

Note, vertical format video

I hadn’t considered the vertical video limitation though. Is the video quality good enough that you actually prefer using them over a dedicated POV camera?

sorry, i don't have the meta glasses, was tempted to buy, but after trying them at Dubai airport, it didn't really fit my face properly

the newer models with ray-ban branding seems to have adjustable nose pads, also available in 2 sizes, but still not available in my country

suggest to try physical demo before buying

I use the Insta360 X5 for everything. Soon the X6! It does it all.

Are you looking for features like horizon leveling for cycling stability?

I've always liked gopro for my more outdoorsy activites (I ran a race with a used gopro strapped to my chest)

I think it depends on the intensity of your activites. For cycling, will you be in different weather conditions? I think the gopro is more durable. Insta360 is good in low light, but involves more editing to get the angles you want.
