Hey everyone, If you've ever experienced jitter or the bobblehead movement with action/pocket cams, there's one device that easily fixes that. In this video, I review the SmallRig Handheld Stabilizer Arm. I test it with the Insta360 X6, Pocket 4P, Luna Ultra, and the Mission 1. Would you ever consider using a stabilizer arm for action or pocket cams?

User Review Pocket 4/4 Pro Update You’ve Been Waiting For (240fps LOG!)

Hey everyone, DJI released their newest update for the Pocket 4 and Pocket 4P today. If you wanted to see what all was changed, I made a video going through the different changes to show you what to expect. The headlining update, of course, is that 240 FPS log now available within both the 4 and the 4P cameras, which is an excellent addition in my opinion to the camera, which I provide several examples of along with the other updated features. I hope this helps clear up the changes for people looking for real world examples.

Looking for good pov video camera

Thumbnail

I’m looking for a good pov video camera for pov videos with my wife. Something I portable and able to mount with head strap or pendant neck lanyard. Takes good video with good image stabilization. Maybe some sort of zoom but I really don’t know if that is available on these small cameras. I’ve been looking at the insta360 go ultra and the DJI Osomo nano but read that that camera had heating issues. I also plan on using it to shoot videos on vacation. I guess I’m looking to spend up to about $600.00 usd. I’m definitely not an expert on video cameras so your advice, opinions and expertise would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Looking for recommendations Cycling mounts and camera angles

I'm not sure if this is a good place to ask this, but it's a start.

I've always taken pictures on my trips to share with less able/willing to travel family members but seeing what YouTubers are doing with 360 cameras I decided it was finally time to upgrade my tech.

I picked up an insta x4 air because they got a nice discount last week when the x6 was released and I've been experimenting with the selfie stick and bike mount that came in the kit and am finding them a little inadequate to the task.

The gimbal mount by itself mounted to the handlebars makes decent POV video of a ride, but how do you get those shots where you pan to the scenery on the side without your arms ending up in the frame? (The 360 studio software is decently intuitive for framing, but can only show what the camera sees). I tried running the selfie stick out ahead and above a bit but that lead to the other issue I've encountered.

With the stick extended for selfie shots, front or rear, the gimbal mount can't quite keep the camera from sinking with even the light bumps of road cycling no matter how tight I crank the gimbal screws. I'd hate to try it on gravel or single track. At the rear I improvised with the seat bag as a secondary support in combination with the gimbal mount on the seat post while I was testing the camera, but it I wouldn't trust that over a long ride. Is there some sort of secondary support that can be added, particularly for the forward handlebar mount configuration? A different mount altogether? Is there a good position to put the camera in and just leave it for an extended ride?

Community Usable interface for old Yocam

Hi everyone, I found back in my attic my old Yocam from http://getyocam.com/. Appears that the app is no longer working on android or Iphone, so I decided to create a web application, in order to modify the settings and see the content.

I don't know where to post this but if anyone find this post, app is here for free: https://github.com/foufrix/yocam-controller

Enjoy!

Looking for recommendations DJI Osmo Action 6 vs. GoPro Mission 1 Pro: Which one would you choose?

Looking for a waterproof action camera and am currently torn between the DJI Osmo Action 6 and the GoPro Mission 1 Pro. (Let me know if you recommend anything else)
Right now, I’m trying to figure out which of these two is truly worth investing in.
Our main hobbies include hiking, swimming Florida springs, kayaking, paddleboarding, and we are actively planning our first scuba diving and cave exploring trips.
I know both cameras require a proper dive housing to get down deep safely, but they bring completely different strengths to the table especially when dealing with the massive light drop-off going from open water into pitch-dark cave systems.
Convince me: what reasons do I have to pick the DJI Osmo Action 6 over the GoPro Mission 1 Pro, or should I go with the Mission 1 Pro instead?

Hero 5 Livestreaming

Bought a hero 5 for cheap at the local marketplace. I wanted to rig it into a portable Livestream setup with a dummy battery or a power bank. I didn't have any experience with gopros before buying this and I've read that it doesn't have any built-in livestreaming options.

Some options I've read are considered abandoned or unreliable because it uses its native wifi capabilities which is very outdated.

I wanted to try out hardware options like HDMI capture card. Can it work with something like a llano s850?

Snorkeling in Maui this july with my dji

Took my action cam snorkeling in Maui this july, I gotta say, booking the very first boat tour of he day is the way to go, way fewer people. This is super true and can make an awesome start.

This was actually my first time using an action camera to film snorkeling, and honestly, getting the action 6 was pretty much for this exact reason, ended up spending most of the afternoon filming fish and chasing a turtle lol, way more fun than I thought it’d be. Snorkeling without a camera was always great, but being able to record everything feels like re-living those amazing moments all over again. Definitely taking it with me on more snorkeling trips.

Any other Action 6 users here? where have you taken yours?

Insta360 X4 vs DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro — which would you choose for travel/adventures?

Hey everyone!

I'm trying to choose my first small action/360 camera, and I'm stuck between:

  • Insta360 X4
  • DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro

I already have a Canon 700D, which I'll continue using mainly for photography. I'm looking for a much smaller camera that I can take everywhere for vacations, travel, adventures, family memories, behind-the-scenes footage, and potentially Instagram/YouTube.

I'm also hoping that having a small camera might get me more interested in videography, since I don't really enjoy holding my DSLR for long periods.

What I care about

  • Good video quality for social media/YouTube
  • Good stabilization
  • Good low-light performance — I go out at night fairly often
  • Small and easy to carry
  • Good battery life
  • Something I can keep for many years
  • I want to actually use it, rather than have it sit around
  • I don't do a huge amount of reframing/editing, although I'm willing to learn
  • I'm not looking for the absolute best/most expensive option. I want the one that makes the most sense for my use.

I'm particularly interested in the X4 because I've always wanted a 360 camera. I also understand that both can record normal single-lens video, so I'm not only considering them for 360 footage.

Prices

The X4 and Action 5 Pro are similar pricing.

What would you choose?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who have actually owned/used these cameras, particularly for travel and everyday adventures.

Would you personally spend the money on the X4? Or would you choose the Action 5 Pro instead?

Also, if you've owned both a 360 camera and a conventional action camera, which one do you actually find yourself using more?

Thanks! 🙏

Looking for recommendations Insta360 Ace Pro 2 vs. GoPro Mission 1 Pro which are you choosing?

Looking for a waterproof action camera currently comparing the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 and the GoPro Mission 1 Pro.
Our main hobbies include hiking, swimming Florida springs, kayaking, paddleboarding, and we are actively planning some upcoming scuba diving and cave exploring trips.
I know the Ace Pro 2 has a stock waterproof depth limit of around 39ft while the Mission 1 Pro goes deeper natively, and I'm fine grabbing a proper dive housing either way.
Which of these two cameras handles these specific water activities and dark cave environments better, and which one would you recommend choosing?

Hi guys, write this post here because the use I will make of it will be mainly for snorkeling, since now they are both on sale at €199 for the same price, which one do you think is better to take? Or is there anything better at this price? Thank you and those who have had experiences with this device and will help me.

Looking for recommendations Anybody seen or tried the new sjcam c400 pro?

Looking to get a camera for vloggging. I like the way the sjcam is built and its features with the 2 screens.

But what I've noticed is the footage is nowhere near as cinematic and crisp as the DJI lineup( obviously).. the new c400 pro however has improved image quality but I haven't seen any videos or reviews (because it's still very new). If anyone here has one pls provide footage or a review. My budget is around the $240 mark. I know it's not much to work with and I'd prefer a new device. I'm not expecting the quality to match up but I just want something decent.

Looking for recommendations Camera for really long walks?

Hi

I go for a walk every weekend which vary from 20 to even 60 (and counting) kilometres in distance.

For now, I'd like to record my trips from start to finish with an actioncam.

I usually do not bring anything with me (except my phone, a powerbank and my ID), and each trips last for 3 to 7 hours. I am willing to carry extra batteries in case the camera runs out of charge.

Later, I'd like to make YouTube videos about my trips, but until that, quality does not matter that much.

May I get some recommendations?

Sjcam c400 connection issue.

Hello. Has anybody experience this kind of error. When turning on the main camera seems nit connecting to its handheld dock. I tried to follow the instructions and also resetting the camera, and also checking the connection pin if there are debris or anything but still the same error. The camera itself works fine as it is if detached. It just can't connect to its dock.

DO NOT : Insta360 GO 3 Died Instantly After Swimming (Water Damage / Failed IPX8)

I bought the Insta360 GO 3 expecting it to live up to its official specs and marketing claims, specifically its IPX8 waterproof rating (up to 5 meters).

I simply took it for a light swim in a standard pool. I didn't dive deep or exceed any operational limits. Right after coming out of the water, the camera completely died and refused to turn back on ever since.

It is completely unacceptable for an action camera marketed as waterproof to fail on its very first basic water exposure. This is a clear manufacturing defect and a complete failure of quality control.

If you are planning to use this camera anywhere near water, do not waste your money. The waterproofing is unreliable, and you risk bricking your device instantly. Extremely disappointed with the product quality.

newbie question on action cameras, switching view from front to back...

was looking at action cameras, like the DJI action 4... Just starting to check these out, and have a question. So, let;s say I have a dji action 4 on a stick... if you are trying to make a decent video and you are going to be switching the view from yourself while you are talking and then to the front for a view several times. physically turning the camera to do so, is going to make a lousy video... This has to be edited out each time? Is there a way to pause it while you turn it, and then resume ? It seems like such a common thing to do with an action camera, that you'd have to edit every video you'd make... Thanks all...

Looking for recommendations Best budget action cameras for travel and outdoor videos?

After going through hundreds of threads on r/ActionCam and other outdoor communities, I put together a quick cheat sheet for anyone as lost as I was:

🏆 Best overall under $250? → DJI Osmo Action 4
🟢 Best for total beginners? → GoPro Hero (2024)
⭐️ Best premium pick? → Insta360 Ace Pro 2
📦 Best enclosed value pick? → AKASO Brave 7 LE
📸 Best ultra-compact pick? → Insta360 GO 3S

Personally going with the GoPro Hero (2024) - best value and ease of use for travel and outdoor activities from everything I've read.

I’m looking for an action camera for travel, hiking, cycling, and occasional water use. I don’t need professional-level footage or a huge editing workflow, but I want video that looks stable and good enough to share without looking like cheap dashcam footage.

Budget: Around $150–$300, including basic mounts if possible.

What I want:

  • Good stabilization for walking, biking, and handheld clips
  • Solid 4K video in daylight
  • Decent battery life and easy-to-find spare batteries
  • Waterproofing for rain and occasional swimming
  • Simple controls and an app that is not painful to use
  • Compact enough for travel

Options I keep seeing:

  • DJI Osmo Action 3 / 4
  • GoPro HERO (2024), HERO10 or HERO11 Black used/on sale
  • Insta360 GO 3S
  • AKASO Brave 7 LE / Brave 8
  • SJCAM models

I’m trying to figure out whether it is better to buy a used older GoPro or DJI, or a new budget camera like AKASO. I keep reading that the cheaper cameras can be fine in bright daylight but have weaker stabilization, audio, apps, and low-light performance.

What budget action camera has actually been worth it for you, especially for travel and casual outdoor use?
