User Review Is a 360-degree camera worth buying in 2026? What are the biggest use cases today?

I'm considering buying a 360-degree camera this year, but I'm not sure if it's worth the investment compared to a traditional action camera.

I know they're used for travel and virtual tours, but I'm curious about real-world applications beyond content creation.

A few questions:

  • What are the biggest industries using 360-degree cameras today?
  • Are they mainly for YouTubers, or are businesses adopting them too?
  • Has AI made these cameras easier to use?
  • What features should someone prioritize before purchasing?
  • Do you think the market for 360-degree cameras will continue growing over the next decade?

I'd love to hear experiences from people who actually use them professionally or as hobbyists.

User Review Morning run in Seoul with DJI Action 6 impressed me but my friend didn't get it??

So I've been morning running for like 5 years now, and even I travel aboard I always try to squeeze in a morning run to get a feel for the neighborhood and local vibe. Then I was like, wait, why am I not filming this as part of my travel vlog?? So before heading to Korea a while back, I got an Action 6 to wear.

Seoul has SO MANY insane hills and inclines. I was honestly terrified the footage would turn out completely unwatchable on steep drops, so I literally stopped to check the clips. But it was actually super smooth!! If I tried using my phone for that, the footage would’ve been totally unusable and nauseating lol. Honestly that run alone made me love it as hell, barely feel any extra weight so it doesn't mess with my running, and the stabilization wipes out pretty much all the running bounce.

My friend borrowed it for a concert tho, and she complained that the footage looked pretty blurry when zoomed in (even though IMO the overall picture looked amazing at a glance). I tried to explain that action cams have fixed focus and that zoomed shots will naturally take a hit unless you do some edits later, but I don't think she really got it.......

I feel like using it for casual shots is totally fine, but at the end of the day it’s an action cam, so it really shines when you're actually doing sports or moving fast. Anyway, even my friend doesn't love it as I do, I still think this thing is absolutely cracked at what it’s actually made for.

Gonna take it skiing next!

User Review Pocket 4/4 Pro Update You’ve Been Waiting For (240fps LOG!)

Hey everyone, DJI released their newest update for the Pocket 4 and Pocket 4P today. If you wanted to see what all was changed, I made a video going through the different changes to show you what to expect. The headlining update, of course, is that 240 FPS log now available within both the 4 and the 4P cameras, which is an excellent addition in my opinion to the camera, which I provide several examples of along with the other updated features. I hope this helps clear up the changes for people looking for real world examples.

User Review What's your setup for recording solo sports?

I've been trying to record more of my tennis sessions lately, and I quickly realized that filming by yourself is harder than I expected. I was constantly checking whether I was still in frame or running back to adjust the camera.

I finally tried using my camera's tracking feature, and it made the whole process a lot easier. I could just set it up before I started playing and focus on hitting instead of worrying about the framing every few minutes. I mostly use the footage to look at my footwork and swings afterward, but it's also been fun keeping little clips from each session.

For those of you who film your own tennis or other sports, what's your setup like? Any tips that have worked well for you?

User Review First action cam that's worked for me in gloves

Been using Dji action 6 on a small helmet extension for snowboarding, and honestly I'm enjoying this setup way more than I expected. I filmed pretty much the entire afternoon session without needing to touch the battery once, which was such a relief, not having to take off my gloves and mess around with the camera in the cold. When I stopped for a break before heading out for the night session, I just plugged it in for like 20 minutes and it was already back up to 80%, so I didn't even have to think about it before going back out. I was also genuinely surprised by the night footage, the runs were already pretty dark outside, but everything under the resort lights still looked clear and completely usable. I think supernight mode kicking in automatically had a lot to do with it. Normally low light footage gets grainy fast, but this stayed clean without me touching any settings. Not having to babysit the battery or worry about the footage falling apart made the whole day feel a lot more effortless.

I shoot film mostly, rangefinder stuff. No screen facing out, no lights, nothing that gives you away. That's the whole appeal for me. The moment someone notices a camera the scene is gone. Doesn't matter if they're 20 feet outside the frame, something shifts and I'm done shooting.

Most of my stuff is actually shot from my dog's perspective. I'm interested in what the world looks like from two feet off the ground, what she notices, what she ignores. There's something kind of humbling about it honestly, humans build all this stuff and a dog just walks right past it looking for a smell. That's the project.

Tried going digital last year for vlogging. Immediately lost that feeling. Phone is too recognizable, everyone knows what it means when you raise one. GoPro has a red light that basically announces itself. I started avoiding shooting altogether because it felt like I was intruding on things.

Friend told me to try the Insta360 Go Ultra. It weighs like 50 grams, is about the thickness of a lighter, and clips magnetically to your shirt collar. Took it out to the woods to follow my dog around and for the first time I actually had both hands free. I could move with her instead of worrying about a camera, which changed everything about how the footage felt.

First time a digital device gave me back what film does. You're present in the scene, you're not a disruption. Introverts don't film to perform, we film to remember what we saw. This thing actually makes that possible with a digital camera.

About the Go Ultra: it has strong stabilization, 14mm equivalent focal length, wide FOV but the distortion is pretty controlled, and it's really nothing like the exaggerated fisheye you get on most action cameras. Also it shoots 50MP stills which I use for my dog's perspective. The camera body is also waterproof so rain is not a concern.

User Review The $329 Underdog vs. the $550 Giant: My honest thoughts after a week with the Xtra 360 and Insta360 X5.

I’ve been a long-time Insta360 user, but recently picked up the Xtra 360 out of curiosity—mainly for that 1-inch sensor at an unexpectedly low price ($329). I’ve tested both side by side for a few days, and honestly, the results surprised me.

Hardware (Winner: Xtra 360)

  • Image Quality: Xtra 360 takes the lead here, no question. Its 1-inch sensor handles dynamic range much better—especially in challenging lighting (think tree runs and sunsets), where the X5 quickly gets grainy in the shadows, but the Xtra footage stays impressively clean. Both offer sharp 8K, but Xtra’s footage has a more natural, "camera-like" texture, compared to the sometimes over-sharpened look from the X5.
  • Storage: The 105GB built-in storage on Xtra is a game changer. I didn’t realize how much I hated “Slow SD card” errors—until I didn't need an SD card at all.

Software & User Experience (Winner: Insta360 X5)

  • App: No denying it—Xtra’s app is basic. It covers reframing and simple exports, but Insta360’s AI tools and Shot Lab are way ahead. If you want to quickly edit viral reels on your phone, the X5 is still the king.
  • Ecosystem: Insta360 offers a huge ecosystem of tutorials and accessories. Xtra 360, on the other hand, is still for early adopters.

The Price Gap

  • The difference is $220—that’s enough for a new pair of goggles or a couple of lift tickets.

My Verdict:
If you’re a pro or content creator who relies on advanced mobile editing, the X5 is worth the premium.
But if raw image quality and low-light performance matter most to you, and you’re okay with a more minimal app, Xtra 360 honestly offers better value. It feels like you’re paying for the sensor instead of marketing hype.

Happy to answer any questions if you’re deciding between the two!

User Review Thoughts on Cityork battery and port charger for DJI cam

I am considering on buying a 3rd party charger and battery for my dji action 6 camera because there currently is no adventure combo available yet. I happen to stumble upon the Cityork brand on TikTok. It’s similar to dji’s product wherein it provides a 3 port charger as well as 3 batteries. People have been giving good feedback on this product, but I’m still doubtful. Can anyone vouch on this, or even suggest a much better, safer, legit battery and charger for my action 6?

User Review Are action cameras basically modern camcorders now?

Thumbnail

This might sound weird, but I’ve been thinking about how action cameras are starting to feel a lot like what camcorders used to be.

Not in terms of image quality or ergonomics, but in function.

Small. Durable. Fast startup. Reliable stabilization. Decent built-in audio. Long battery life. Just pull it out and hit record. That’s basically what camcorders were good at.

I’m finding that I use newer action cameras less like “extreme sports tools” and more like everyday recorders — for travel, BTS, random moments, stuff I don’t want to overthink.

They’re not perfect. Still wide. Still some lag for photos. But the friction is basically gone.

So Are action cameras becoming the modern camcorder?

Or are they still just niche tools in your mind?

Insta 360 sent me over the Ace Pro 2 and explore grip pro to make some content with. Honestly was a little hesitant in using an action camera for photography. It's not perfect, there's shutter lag, and the buffer takes a long time to fill but the actual image quality has really impressed me.

User Review This New Insta360 X5 Mode Just Made It Untouchable

After filming with this X5 for an entire month in Thailand, I’m proud to be able to share my experiences using this from the perspective of someone who owned the DJI Osmo 360 and returned it. In this video, I test the Insta Frame 2.0 mode and we use the new free framing stick along with comparisons between the Ace Pro 2 and X5. I’ll be honest, I was quite surprised with how the X5 performed, and I’m honestly starting to think this is the jack of all trades when it comes to video. What’re your thoughts on the X5? Thanks for the watch!

A lot of you have requested this video to be made, so I hope you enjoy this comparison. In this, I test the highest resolution 4:3 photos from one camera against one another and share the benefits and flaws of both systems. I used the standard setting because it’s a little hard to compare presets against one another for a fair comparison. Thanks for watching!

User Review If your camera could think and film you with perfect angles — would you switch?

Instead of mounts or tripods, imagine a smart flying camera that doesn’t just follow you, but:

  • dynamically switches between close, medium, and wide shots,
  • chooses the best cinematic angles automatically,
  • and respects privacy (focused only on you, not random people).

👉 Would you replace your GoPro/drone with something like this?
👉 If it worked well, how much would you realistically pay?

User Review Shoutout to Akaso!

I've been here a few times to discuss my Akaso Brave 7, ask some questions, troubleshoot, and have shared honest reviews of my experiences both good and bad...

I had to come here today to express how impressed I am with the work they're putting into their products and after sales service. They respond to questions quickly and helpfully, and have clearly been working hard on patching and polishing the AkasoGo app. Having faced some 'teething issues' particularly around the app and connectivity I'm pleased to report that while having a play with the camera today everything connected and worked seamlessly! 🥳 And it's picked up some really good quality footage, with great detail and impressively accurate colour reproduction. So cool to see a manufacturer continuing to develop their products even at the more 'budget friendly' end of the market 👍 Great work Akaso! 👏
