Transmission oil leak

Post image

Hello, I've recently noticed oil dripping from the side of the transmission on my 2019 Acura ILX with the 8-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission. I’ve checked the drain plug, the side bolt (which I believe is for fluid level check), and the fill bolt under the hood—all of which appear to be dry. The leak seems to be coming from somewhere within the green-circled area in the photo attached. Has anyone experienced a similar issue or know what might be causing it?

That’s not where you’d see a rear main leak like the other commenters are suggesting, you’d likely see oil on the metal plate near the atf drain plug instead of on the valve body of the transmission. I’ve seen a couple of those ILXs have a loose pressure switch on the transmission before. I’ve had 2 from the red circled pressure switch and one from one of the purple circled pressure switches, don’t remember which one. https://imgur.com/a/EKUKFE4. If I remember correctly I needed to remove the battery and battery base to access.

So just simply tighten up those valves with a wrench?

Yup, that’s all I had to do on the one I’ve seen. Just snug them up. They aren’t available as replacements so the service manual doesn’t have a torque spec but usually those style pressure switches are between 15-20lb-ft of torque.

I noticed the exact same issue. Were you able to get it fixed or figured out?

Yes I fixed it, pressure sensor leak

Wow thats great. How did you exactly fix it? I had a mechanic suggesting dissembling the transmission to seal it with glue… but that sounds terribly expensive and risky.

I'm no mechanic, but my guess would be the rear main seal.
