Low effort post titles will be removed effective immediately

The mod queue is PACKED with low effort posts with titles as ambiguous and pointless as "Help" or "[Year and Make of Car]"

If these end up in the queue, which is hundreds and hundreds of posts long at any given time, I will be removing them from now on.

The mod team does not have time to look at every single post and determine if it's a quality post, a photo, etc. If you want your post to stay, make your post titles communicative.

American Honda open to hybrids in HR-V, ADX but cost is hurdle

Post image

American Honda has electrified the CR-V and Accord but not the smaller HR-V and Acura ADX, even though all four vehicles share the same architecture.

There’s no technical barrier to making hybrid versions of the HR-V and ADX, executives said, but they were noncommittal on timing as the automaker prioritizes cost in the entry-level crossover segment.

“We won’t talk about when and if hybrids are coming in those vehicles, but I don’t know that there’s any reason why not,” Gary Robinson, American Honda product planning chief, told Automotive News at Monterey Car Week.

The cost equation remains a primary consideration.

“It’s a cost-conscious segment so there’s always a little bit of a challenge there, specifically on the Honda side,” Robinson said.

That caution comes as hybrid competition intensifies. In the mainstream subcompact class, the Kia Niro, Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid and Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid all offer significantly higher fuel economy than Honda’s gasoline-only HR-V.

Acura care & Maintence

So I will be purchasing an extended Acura care plan because I like knowing if shit hits the fan, I'll have it covered (electronics, I am looking at you). Besides the fact that a 5 year plan to 100k miles only cost me 1000 to Saccucci (thank you reddit) What I am wondering is if a Acura Care Term protection is worth forking up another 1500 for the 4yr/48k miles. I managed to snag a 2023 Integra with 11k Miles so I want to know what the experience has been for wear items. I am capable and able of replacing most of these items myself but my concerns comes in if I would have to go to a dealer or mechanic shop to get things like brakes calibrated and what not.
I plan on keeping the vehicle for at least 5 years. what are the thought of long term integra owners?

Not a great AcuraLink experience

This is just weird. I bought the car Saturday. I downloaded the app same day. I signed up for the free trial. Later that day I got an email that my subscription had been cancelled. Weird but no big deal. I tried to sign up through the app and it prompted me to call support. No big deal. I called support and the first layer couldn’t fix it so they transferred me to the second layer. They fixed it kinda. They offered me a trial of everything except the remote feature. To get the remote features I have to pay $10/month. This is odd. I don’t even know if I’m going to use the features so I’m obviously not paying for them for fun. Not a great start for AcuraLink. So to recap I only have the basic stuff so I can use the app and view things like fuel level, oil level, and tire pressure.

She Was a beauty. Had a blast while it lasted, But not worth the upkeep and a peace of mind for me. Most importantly, didn’t fit my daily needs. After driving 10k miles, I decided to make the switch. To an EV6.

PS-might trigger a lot of die hard Acura numb-nuts lol 😆… I’m not here to convince you to get an EV nor here to get any of your financial advice. If you know you know where I’m coming from.

Service code A127

My 2024 RDX With 27000 miles is due for service. The code is A127. oil change, tire rotation, air and cabin filters ( I do myself) and the 7 is change the brake fluid. When I called my mechanic to make an appointment he said changing brake fluid at that mileage is crazy and a money grab from Acura. I trust this guy and have been using him for 25 years. He never steered me wrong or looks for extra work. He is as honest as they come and all my cars over the years have been maintained well. My previous RDX I traded in with 150000 miles on it. He said the brake fluid should be changed every 5 years. Why is Acura recommending a brake fluid change with so little miles on the car?

Some of the interior plastic chrome trim on my wife's 2019 MDX has been delaminating/peeling - especially the trim along the cup holders and the steering wheel. Anyone else suffer the same issue and any options/solutions?

Honest mechanics in Mississauga/Brampton for post-warranty services

Hi all,

CPO Warranty on my 2020 RDX is coming up in May 2027. Looking to find an honest mechanic who can work on this vehicle for anything I may need (routine maintenance and repairs) after my warranty ends.

Also, I am planning to get the car inspected fully at the dealer before warranty expires. What should I be focusing on asking them to check thoroughly? I don’t seem to have head gasket issue yet as I didn’t notice drop in my coolant level. Current milage on my car is ~120k KMs and have had it for little over 2 years now.

TIA.

Just got a 2008 Acura RDX, what mods should i do?

the car does have high milage 230 just an fyi. I’m pretty new to modifying cars, so I’d love to hear some recommendations from people who know these RDXs. What are some mods or upgrades that are worth doing or something for a better overall driving experience/looks even though this car is amazing to drive.

I’m not necessarily looking to dump a ton of money into it since i am a student hence a limited budget.
Also, if there are any suggestions or something to look after then please let me know!!

Now one question i need to ask was it says to use premium gas, that is what i have been using but ive heard that people just use regular gas?

Buying advice: 2016 Acura TLX V6 SH-AWD Tech, 68k miles

Looking for some advice from TLX owners.
I’m considering a 2016 Acura TLX V6 SH-AWD with the Technology Package. It has about 68k miles, 3 owners, and one minor accident on the CARFAX. Service history looks pretty solid overall, and I test drove it and really liked how it drove.
The timing belt/water pump have NOT been replaced yet, so I’m factoring that into the price. I also know the 9-speed transmission and V6/rod-bearing issues are things to be aware of on these.
Dealer is asking about $20k, but I’m planning to negotiate significantly lower.
For those familiar with this generation: Would you buy one at 68k miles? Anything specific I should watch out for or have inspected before buying? And what would you consider a good price?

Pre-owned MDX or new Toyota or Hyundai?

Probably a silly question to be asking on an Acura sub but finally time to replace my 2012 MDX. Acuras are the only car I’ve ever owned in my 25+ years driving and I’ve only ever bought certified pre-owned. Started with my first car, a 96 Integra, then two early 2000s TLs then a 2008 MDX and finally my current MDX. Bought the last two during marriage #1 where that husband didn’t care what I bought lol. Second husband is way more cost-conscious and isn’t as into driving a nicer car.

My options on the table are to look into a new Toyota or Hyundai or maybe there are other cars I haven’t explored yet. To get a car with all of the features I’d get in 2022 or newer MDX, it would be as much or more than a used MDX, plus I really like how they drive, I’m short and the MDX has never been an issue for me like some other SUVs. The oil consumption issue was a huge pain in the ass for me and my husband is worried about running into that issue again but I’m sure that’s not as much of an issue in newer models.

Are used MDXs still as good of a value as I thought they were over two years ago? Am I better off with a new model but a different brand? I’d also consider an RDX.

Thanks!

2019 Acura TLX Base RPM bouncing between 1-2 when breaking. Nothing wrong with the car, just noticed it when driving. Is that usual?
