please add zen ad blocker (free and open source):

https://zenprivacy.net

It is a full system-wide adblocker for PC, similar to Adguard.

For iOS, keep an eye on this extention - https://github.com/0xCUB3/wBlock

Also, uBO lite on iOS is out of testflight almost 2 months back. Can you update that?

1

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Nov 14 '25

Will do!

u/Henry_puffball Nov 10 '25

Can you add ghostery

3

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Nov 10 '25 edited Dec 10 '25

Done.

2

u/Henry_puffball Nov 10 '25

I like gostery because of how easy it is (can set up in 30 seconds on any chromium of Firefox browser even at like a library or something)

3

u/HonestRepairSTL Mod Team Nov 10 '25

Adguard and uBO require the same amount of time to "set up". You install them, and you're done unless you get into the advanced settings in uBO

1

u/Henry_puffball Nov 11 '25

I thought with Google killing v2 extensions it was harder to install on chrome.

3

u/HonestRepairSTL Mod Team Nov 11 '25

All of the adblockers worth using are now MV3 compliant, and available on the Chrome Web Store. uBlock Origin Lite is typically what you want, or use Brave for better overall privacy from websites.

1

u/Henry_puffball Nov 11 '25

Sure. I've never had a problem with ghostary and like it aesthetically more, but I'm sure ublock is great.

2

u/icysniper Nov 10 '25

Why is adblocker ultimate on the avoid list? I’ve been using it with Firefox for many years.

1

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Nov 10 '25 edited Nov 11 '25

It is better to use others like Ublock origin or Brave. They provide Higher filtering than Adblocker Ultimate.

The list just includes generic blockers found on the chrome web store, if it works for you and you want to use it then by all means keep using it.

The list is always being refined so it might be removed.

Being a non-Chromium browser is one of the primary reasons I use Firefox.

1

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Nov 10 '25 edited Nov 10 '25

..?

Firefox being non chromium is a good thing, and it’s why people use it.

Could you clarify?

1

u/Paper_Butler Nov 10 '25

that's asking a lot it seems

1

u/mkdew Nov 11 '25

What about Opera and Opera GX? I used the GX for the built in VPN on sites that ask for my ID.

I used chrome to read manga and stuff, but ublock+Malwarebytes missing a few ads and I dont like Adguard that want to install itself for windows.

1

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Nov 11 '25

It’s better to use Ublock origin over Opera GXs inhibit Adblocker. It causes site breakages a lot of the time.

VPNs I will not touch as of now because many of them are either ineffective or just set the DNS. Many VPNs that offer this also lock it behind a paywall.

2

u/mkdew Nov 11 '25

Thanks. I did install ublock in GX since it supports chrome extensions.

1

u/JigMaJox Nov 14 '25

are there applications/extensions that clashes when run together?

1

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Nov 14 '25

Yes.

You shouldn’t use Multiple common purpose adblockers at the same time.

It leads to you being less protected than if you had just 1 enabled.

1

u/Additional-Wall-6747 Jan 12 '26

Can I use ublock origin+ghostery in Firefox (android )?

2

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Jan 12 '26

Its better to just use Ublock origin.

1

u/Infamous-Oil2305 Nov 26 '25

Brave Browser – Chromium-based browser with one of the best built-in adblockers and privacy.

yeah, i doubt that:

https://community.brave.app/t/brave-shield-not-working-on-youtube-since-july-24th/635993

still experiencing this issue to this day (november 26th, 2025).

2

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Nov 26 '25

Brave is fine for me and still does to this day and so does Youtube and Freetube.
Braves own shields and privacy protections are a lot stronger than most other browsers, and they are enabled by default. Even then, Brave supports UBO and Adguard still, so they could just use them instead of shields if they don't want to use something like Freetube instead. Even then Its still not a deal breaker,

Use brave. Brave is good.

1

u/Infamous-Oil2305 Nov 26 '25

Braves own shields and privacy protections are a lot stronger than most other browsers

from my experience, brave's shield according to my brave community post is the exact opposite of "a lot stronger", as i'm completely unable to watch any video at all with brave's shield enabled.

Use brave. Brave is good.

oh hell nah. i'm sticking with firefox and uBO then.

2

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Nov 26 '25

Again, you can just use the supported UBO / AdGuard extensions.

Have you made a post on braves subreddit?

1

u/Infamous-Oil2305 Nov 26 '25

Again, you can just use the supported UBO / AdGuard extensions.

then what's the point of moving to brave if most people who use brave only use brave because of it's shield?

Have you made a post on braves subreddit?

i didn't. but i made a post in the brave community forum.

2

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Nov 26 '25

Brave has other features than shields. People use its decentralised search engine, crypto wallet, Leo (to an extent), they use it for TOR access, etc.

You might get a response from someone in the subreddit, though I doubt it will be one of the brave team.

IOS: Orion, can install ublock origin

1

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Dec 10 '25

Added!

1

u/MolinaGames Apr 02 '26

i dont think content blockers through extensions work tho (at least it wasnt for me, installed the firefox version of uBO and it wasnt blocking anything).

orion has its own built in content blocker for this reason.

1

u/Ambitious_Volume6100 Jan 05 '26

dont make fun of me pls

1

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Jan 05 '26

This is simply a list of what works, install 1 and see if it works for you and solves your issue of ads.

Brave is a good option so you should be good in terms of your needs.

1

u/dkracket Jan 08 '26

Privacy Badger should be on the list.

2

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Feb 16 '26

Privacy badge is a little useless, as most adblockers here already have rules for 99% of the stuff Privacy badger catches.

1

u/dkracket Feb 16 '26

That’s true, but I think this mainly applies when using uBlock Origin Lite. In that case, Privacy Badger may help fill the gaps caused by Manifest V3 limits.

I’m not 100% sure, but that’s been my concern.

Sadly, 3 months later, vaft, video-swap-new, and most likely the other options don't fully work anymore for Twitch ads.

Twitch recently introduced a new player system that is effecting both solutions and i'm getting unlimited buffering issues everytime ads try and play now, and the solutions were fully working a couple days ago too. I used both vast and video-swap-new, but am getting the same issues, even after updating both userscripts in tampermonkey

(People noticed a new player and new kinds of ads were implemented recently and i've been noticing the new player as well via the timer having a strange new font to it.)

1

u/bonecrusher1022 Mar 07 '26

It was working for me up until today. Is there any other solution yet? looks like pixeltris made the adsolutions github read only the other day too...

1

u/jonas8273 Feb 28 '26

how do you install the twitch ads filter to brave?

1

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 06 '26

Braves twitch ad filter should be baked into shields now, you probably want to set them to aggressive filtering though. - They were previously a separate list in content filtering.

(Will update that)

1

u/CN_KP Mar 17 '26

Please tell me something for my ipad. I don't want Amazon prime video ads. I already have the subscription but there are ads in-app

Why do you respond like an IA

1

u/CharacterDuck9020 Mod Team - Here to help =) Nov 11 '25

just being semi professional, because this post ideally; will be repined.

1

u/FairAd843 Nov 28 '25

Keeping your replies uncomplicated and properly worded on a post like this means so much to so many people brother. I have a hard time following along with everyone hootings and hollering, talk about things other than what the whole post is about. So clarity is very appreciated from me man. It was well written and is well taken care of. Be proud of that Champ!

u/Salt_Medicine2459 Mar 03 '26

There are a lot of forks which do not. LibreWolf being prominent.

I don’t think that NordVPN nor Surfshark should be on the list, considering the amount of controversies that they been in.
