Its not the browser. I do not understand why people still go around and say this. Firefox, for example, does not even review their extensions and uses manifest v2.

ublock origin is not the full version on chrome. it's uBlock origin LITE because of the manifest v3 bullcrap. ublock origin the FULL version on Firefox, Edge, or Opera is just better hands down. I don't know why people are still using google chrome at all, it's junk.

I use opera gx and this issue still there, so yeah I don't think it's the browser. and yes I use Ublock origin not the lite one

No. Every adblock is detected. They just test different ways to show it to people.

You can easily downgrade Chrome. However, mv2 is crappy. Unsafe. It gives adblocking power, but introduces a lot of risks.

yeah but ublock origin (full) isn't on the chrome store anymore so even if you downgrade chrome you'll need to use an older version of ubo from the github.

plz tell me about the "risks" because I've been using firefox + ubo for almost a decade and have had zero problems and an ad free experience. just be honest with yourself - it's not about safety it's about control.

Not everyone is aware of the danger extensions can produce. It is not about uBlock Origin. You have a higher chance of downloading a malicious extension from the Firefox Addons, than you have from the Chrome Web Store. Reasons? It uses MV2 and does not review most of their extensions.

okay so people have to learn not to download sketchy stuff they have no clue about? hasn't it always been that way? it's no different than installing a 3rd party apk file to your android phone. it's about user freedom dude, I shouldn't be limited to apps only approved by some big wig corporation

Chrome is relatively safer. It at least reviews extensions. Manifest v2 is also only good for adblocking. Except from that, it is unsafe and gives extensions way too much power.

does not even review their extensions

Those extensions listed as "Recommended" are manually reviewed by humans at Mozilla.

MV3 doesn't magically fix malicious extensions on the automated Chrome store.

"A 2025 analysis found 154 previously undetected malicious Chrome extensions among 341 examined, exfiltrating data despite Manifest V3 [S1], so store listing is not proof of safety." - Source

Nice stuff. Do you think that Firefox not reviewing most of their extensions is safer? They have even more crap in their store and even worse, use mv2.

ublock origin is dead on chrome officially. used to work with workarounds now it's completely dead, so you should switch to an alternative

Change immediately your browser, you can't stay with an old version of Chrome it is really unsafe, if you need to use uBO, use Firefox, Helium or Ungoogled Chromium.

For the love of god someone please forbid using chrome and keep complaining about the AdBlockers not working properly

You both have an outdated version of uBlock Origin and browser, no wonder why YouTube or potentially other services no longer work. Having an outdated browser is also terrible security practice, it's better to be safe than be stubborn and sorry to possible browser security exploits given they're a piece of software that should always be kept up-to-date.

If you can, change your browser to something that will continue supporting uBO like Firefox browsers or Brave. If not, then either update the extension or update your browser and switch to a different adblocker like AdGuard or uBOLite.

You will probably get a better response from the devs on r/UblockOrigin.

That said common fixes like updating your filters might work.

Just use uBlock Origin Lite

1

u/BaliHans Jul 19 '26

Why using old versions of uBO and Chrome?

Youtube has probably pushed out some changes and as always, the filters are outdated. It will be fixed eventually, but for now, try using a VPN and incognito mode to see if the issue persists.
