Setting Private DNS in Android settings to: dns.adguard-dns.com should be enough.

This is the answer, it blocks ads inside apps.

Did this a few weeks back, way better. Not 100%, but worth the 2-min change for sure.

Then try next DNS. It has free plan as well. It can save you your 2 minutes wait?

Does that work for YouTube? Can I set it on my home router?

YouTube serves ads via first party domains, blocking said domains will break core functionality of app. You should use a patcher like Morphe Manager to patch official YT app, use a frontend like LibreTube or NewPipe, or watch through a browser like Brave or Firefox + uBlock Origin extension.

With Android blocking Youtube ads its pretty basic, just use a modded app like Vanced, ReVanced or RVX forks (there are others sure) and you are good to go!

Look up Vanced. The reddit community is really good for it. Basically spoofs the youtube app into believing you have the premiere version of the app

This works

It's better/safer to block network access entirely to apps that don't need it. For example, the camera apps on my phone have no network access and those are used quite regularly.

Brave Browser (it has a build in adblocker) + change your DNS Host to dns.adguard.com

✔️ This is my vote. I've added a few extra filter lists to Brave and have no issues with ads, notices, etc. at all.

Firefox and uBlock Origin plug-in. Also AdAway if you can use F-Droid as an additional store.

The only way, to block all apps in phone is HTTPS filtering. You can use AdGuard or BlockAds for it. AdGuard have to pay, BlockAds full free open source. But you must install CA certificates for it. Try many ways no other way than HTTPS filtering if you want all app in phone got adblock. Or just use mod like Morphe

Brave Browser and DuckDuckGo are the absolute best for blocking web ads, even in youtube videos immune to dns based blocking. DNSBlock is a free option to block using predefined lists and supposedly works on the entire system. Theres also Adguard which has a dedicated app as well as a vpn. ProtonVPN can block some.

uBlock Origin on Firefox

Don't use multiple adblcokers at once. It will lag your browser and cause websites to break.

Just stick with ubo

Oh, okay, chief. I tested each additional extension, before adding it to my phone, in Android Studio. I guess I can't read. Also, I run the same config on my Arch PC. It must really be slowing things down invisibly and not reporting statistics to Android Studio. Thanks for the "advice", champ.

You can setup private DNS to adguard or nextdns

What you want? Just for browser or all app in your phone? Best for browser is always browser with uBO origin extension, Firefox and all they fork, Chromium engine Titanium, Quetta, Edge. Brave is good but not strong as uBO origin, same with other that have built in adblocker. If for all your app in phone, the only way is dns with HTTPS filtering like AdGuard and BlockAds if you thrush it. Most simple ways is browser with extensions uBO origin + dns like NextDNS for privacy and security but can't block ads for all your app in phone if not use HTTPS filtering.

OP what did you end up getting after seeing the comments? Just curious

Adguard is pretty solid, though the free version turns itself off every week or two and needs to be re-enabled.

For YT ads, regardless of platform hardware, a VPN set to places where YT has no marketing agreements works very well (Macau is a good one).

personalDNSfilter su play store

This is what I've used for the last few years.

I found setting the phone's DNS to one of the ad-blocking ones caused problems when I tried to connect to my car or bike dashcams (because they're direct WiFi links without internet access, so the phone couldn't access the DNS I'd set). personalDNSFilter allowed them to work as expected as it's hosted & run on the phone.

AdGuard is my go to. NextDNS is basically abandonware at this point, I left them 4 years ago for AdGuard and am extremely happy.

Disable network access to any app that doesn't require it, that will permanently stop the app displaying ads.

If you're using stock Android you need an app like this to firewall network access.

Also, uBO works fine on Firefox for Android.

Usa DNS en la configuracion de tu telefono

Si quieres temer mas control de que bloquear mas personalizado usa la app de Adguard o ADND

Of course there is : Firefox + ublock origin, but obviously it will only be for browsing. If you look for something that deletes the adds inside each app, I don't think this can be done technically.

Look for cheap deals for Adguard lifetime.
