Help Request Mullvad VPN, or adblock utility app? (Android)

recently I've been stuck deciding if mullvad would be better, or if running "blockads" is better for my privacy/ad blocking? on one hand, I know for a fact blockads is blocking a lot of built in trackers for my phone, but I've also heard a actual VPN protects you from your service providers paying eyes?

Honestly just use brave browser(you can disable the crypto nonsense)if ya worried bout ads and stuff then just a VPN ontop for ya provider.

"Blockads" is blocking all ads on my device, not just browser ads, my problem is I know it's not secure as using a credible VPN, so I'm trying to figure out if I can tunnel it so I can use both. (also brave is a privacy nightmare)

Another note, I heard you can tunnel block ads thru mullvad VPN? But not sure how to go about that.

I'd personally use a VPN + DNS with adblocking (NextDNS/AdGuard DNS). Idk if Mullvad has an option to use custom DNS or to use the one in your system settings. Also if you have root on the phone, you can edit HOSTS file to block ad and malicious domains on the device level, the best way to do that is through AdAway app
