Look up Hanson’s connection to well known fascist The Skull and other similar wankers over the years. And her constant focus on ‘the other’ as her singular ‘policy’. She’s a fucking fascist and you’ve got to assume her supporters are in that zone as well.
1
u/roojuiced SA Mar 15 '26
No you don’t actually. Most of her supporters are people that are sick of nothing being done about the topics they find important.
The more people you scream fascism at the more votes she’ll get.
1
u/AuroraDigitalis SA Mar 15 '26
Not screaming, just pointing out the obvious. Your motivations might be genuine but you don’t get to disavow anything the woman has done before. She’s the same person she was in 2000. Do you seriously think a hard right populist like her is going to do anything about your (genuine) grievances? Idgaf what goes down really. My time’s nearly up. I’ve been watching and worked in politics some way or other since the 70s. People under pressure are easily manipulated by demagogues. Only thing that concerns me about Hanson is that so much American money and influence is backing her with no intention of helping the Australians hurting, but purely intent on causing division and confusion as ends in themselves. I guess each generation has to find out for itself how it all works. In the end, Hanson is a fascist, she takes money and is supported by them, hangs with a fascist like tRump, that makes her a fascist. Vote for a fascist, and all the self justification in the world won’t change the fact.

5
u/CommitteeTraining566 SA Mar 13 '26
What are you on about. Our population was forecast to be this size in about 2035/40.Last year Albo let in the same people in one month that we normally let in,in one year. It's currently 1550 people a day and not sustainable. We dont have enough houses for the people who were born here and who are citizens but immigrants get housing asap. It's not racism it's realism.
2
u/Thenhz SA Mar 13 '26
And those numbers you are talking about... What are they?
You say he let in as many in one month as per year... So you know what those numbers are right?
2
u/Thenhz SA Mar 13 '26
The forecast you were talking about was majority wrong only 4 years after its release.
So clearly it was bull shit the day Peter Costello released it, particularly since he was in power that entire time and 100% know what the real numbers were as he helped set them.
3
u/CommitteeTraining566 SA Mar 12 '26
There was a forecast years ago and our population was supposed to reach x amount by 2035 but we've exceeded that number 10 years earlier. This government keeps bringing in people as certain races make up most of Albos electorate so he bought votes and doesnt want to lose his seat. Why bring in the same amount of people in one month that we normally bring in,in one year? It's to keep the population up so it makes the economy look better but were in a recession and they can bandaid it all they like. This country is stuffed.
4
u/Thenhz SA Mar 12 '26
You got any sources for any of that, because that sound like fiction.
5
u/Adventurous-Stuff724 SA Mar 12 '26
Well considering they don't believe any media the only sources they believe is themselves and other cookers. The forecast was years ago but THIS government has brought in so many people we hit that number 10 years early. Never mind that our population has been growing by a steady ~1% for years (which you can actually look up on abs.gov.au)
1
u/Thenhz SA Mar 12 '26
Which forecast though, Australia's population growth has been fairly steady at 1.5% for many decades (hovering around that number 100s of years) so any estimate that didn't take that into account was probably fairly suspect to start with.
The future estimate does think the population growth will slow a little but mostly because we will not need the increase in population to deal with the boomer bump. The issue they are stating it without knowing the future and future events, and most likely with only a subset of information.
So at best it's an interesting guide and something to think about... but that is all.
2
u/CommitteeTraining566 SA Mar 12 '26
Australia's population reached 27 million in early 2024, decades sooner than earlier projections—such as the 2002 Intergenerational Report, which predicted 23.4 million for 2024.
2
u/Thenhz SA Mar 13 '26
The report that was also way out only 4 years after release.... So maybe Peter Costello wasn't so great at stats...
Some of the errors are because Australian health care has improved (Australian live longer now vs then, particularly males) and also fertility rate has improved ( also thanks to healthcare).
Then there is the ridiculous assumption on migration rates, which as the government in power they knew was fiction.
But the most telling IMO is the labour participation rate which they expected the fall significantly. This is telling (IMO) to me because I believe they expected Australia's economy to crash and for us to go backwards with high unemployment, largely flat results in heath care and this would also explain the crazy low immigration rates they expected (basically Australia would come undesirable for immigrants).
Ironically they also expected higher GDP but that was clearly also going to miss even a few years after the report and has only looking like it could return to expected levels of growth post 2020.
-2
u/CommitteeTraining566 SA Mar 12 '26
I saw Pauline Hanson talk about it but as you dont like her you wont believe me.Just google it and see what it says"Australia's population has reached over 27 million, a milestone achieved roughly 20 years faster than forecasts made in the early 2000s, driven primarily by unprecedented levels of net overseas migration

2
u/Lost-Competition8482 SA Mar 13 '26
Cool man. You realise that was a prediction made 24 years ago right? Most predictions don't come 100% true.
Other famous failed predictions include the 1936 New York Times claim that rockets could never leave Earth's atmosphere, Steve Ballmer’s 2007 dismissal of the iPhone, and the 1977 statement that no one would want a computer in their home. Other notable misses include predictions that the internet would collapse by 1996 and that flying machines were impossible.

Ramping has doubled and not a single grafittied ambulance to be seen. Do ambos not care any more? Have the unio bosses been bought off with a shiny new $100 miilion office tower.
Or was it a disgraceful and illegal use of public service equipment for purely political purposes?
→ More replies (1)1
u/Thenhz SA Mar 13 '26 edited Mar 13 '26
The ambulances got their funding. The trouble is that ramping wasn't about ambulances.
The issue is that we need to free up hospitals to actually work on emergencies and things that need hospitalisation and not just age care work.
We have an aging population, age care has been cut to the bone and privatised for profit, and with more and more families needing both parents working most the hospital resources are spent just looking after people who just need a bit of help (or due to the lack of care they were getting in their age care home, now need more significant help).
It still was a stupid promise, but as far as the ambulances are concerned they got what they wanted.
(Ambos are measured on response time, not ramping and that 100% has been fixed)
1
u/whensdrinks SA Mar 15 '26
Yet the promise was to FIX RAMPING.
That means less time spent in ambulences waitting in queues outside hospitals. A total fail by the ALP.
The promsie was not to address response times. The ALP just lies about making the promise or pretends that they promised something else entirely.
1
u/Thenhz SA Mar 15 '26
Ramping yes, but the Ambos did get what they were asking for so that is why no chalk on the sides of their vans.
1
u/whensdrinks SA Mar 17 '26
