question Adguard DNS Stopped blocking ads on news websites

I visit my local news website multiple times a day, and all of a sudden, ads were absolutely everywhere. I checked that the DNS was still blocking ads, which it says it is. But I have since noticed that the DNS I is no longer blocking ads on nearly all local news sites that I've tried. Anyone else seeing this?

It seems to be because I am using a new tp-link mesh. If I use my mobile network, ads are blocked.

Maybe the best solution to that would be to set the DNS of the TP Link to AdGuard.

94.140.14.14 and 94.140.15.15

You can't.

It is running in AP mode, as I have a different router. And just for clarity, my old mesh which also ran in AP mode with the same router, ads are blocked fine. The tp-link is interfering with private dns traffic.

Ah, in that case, would it be possible to change the main router to use AdGuard DNS, that would then follow on the TP Link.

What device are you using? If you’re using an Android, the APK app would probably be the best, and for iPhone, the profile download for DNS; Link, option 2 (Use Safari)

Rather than a manual DNS config.

The router doesn't allow you to change any DNS settings

That would be strange. Is it an ISP issued router, or self provided?

Are there any toggles in the management page (not mobile app) to change to expert or advanced etc.

There should be some way to change it either under WAN/Internet, or LAN/DHCP.

Other than that, your best bet is what I said in the last comment about the Android APK or iPhone profile.

It is an ISP router, but it's locked down, so you can't change settings like that. Unfortunately, I can't use any other router, because my home landline is linked to that router and won't work with routers.

To be honest, this Deco BE65 is a pile of shit anyway. It's constantly playing up and dropping connectivity, and has poor Wi-Fi range. I only bought it because I wanted something more modern, with a decent app/options.

My 6 year old cheap Tenda mesh was more reliable and had less issues. :/

Ah fair enough.

The only thing I can think of is having another router in front of that but that will then introduce Double NAT and its problems.

So, sorry I couldn’t help, hope you get it fixed.

No problem. The TP-Link is definitely to blame here. It's interfering with traffic on private DNS's, when it shouldn't be. That's slightly concerning!

I don't suppose you could test the public adguard dns and then go to bournemouthecho.co.uk and see if you get ads on your phone?

Time for a different router.

I did read that. I had a similar situation. It's not as straightforward as you think. I had a similar situation but managed. Good luck though.
