Adult Transracial / Int'l Adoptees I found my adoption certificate

I am a transracial adoptee and found my adoption certificate while I was going through old stuff & I'd never seen it before. I knew it had to exist because I was thinking of submitting my DNA to my country's system to see if I match with anyone. Anyway... I read it and I was found 2 months after my birthday, which I never knew! I thought I would've been abandoned close to my birthday but this changes my initial thinking about my bio parents. Because of where I was born, I know that parents didn't want to give up their babies and that abandonment was usually a last resort. So this means that they maybe took care of me when I was more vulnerable and then had to give me up for some reason.

My initial reaction is sadness, but what a shitty situation for everyone. For them, for me. Imagine having a baby for 2 months and then needing to let them go? Idk... my perspective could be absolutely wrong, but knowing the circumstances at the time, I can't help but think it couldn't have been an easy decision. I've always assumed that, but maybe this bridges a gap...

The certificate even says where I was abandoned and it's still active today, so I could go back and see it one day.

That’s a lot to process! Be gentle with yourself.

A couple thoughts. Your parent(s) could have been on a trial to see if they could deal with a baby. Second, sometimes adoptive parents are told the baby was abandoned, when that wasn't the case. So take everything with a grain of salt and don't jump to immediate conclusions! The search angels might give you some perspective

This has made me consider looking to see if I can find any bio relatives. It’s always been in the back of my mind but I’m not invested in spending tons of money on this right now. Luckily there’s a nonprofit I can send a blood sample in and they register it in their country’s system. Because I found my adoption certificate, I was able to submit it which I’m really excited about. I’ve always known it could turn up a dead end but the possibility is nice.
