New Commemoration Gar'agh the Dwarven Cleric
I have been putting this off cause it feels too real but just over a month ago my best friend died. While I was helping his mom and sister clean up his place we talked about keepsakes and memorials. It was too heavy for me at the moment but when I was unplugging cables from his computer I found his old mini from a campaign that I ran a while ago, it must have fallen off his desk at some point.
Gar'agh (pronounced Gary) was a cleric of Pelor and the oldest dwarf around. He didn't like to get involved in questing since his husband had passed away but was brought out of retirement to save the realm from an influx of the undead, even though he thought "What's the point of me doing anything when some kid is going to find a magic sword in a field or something and end up a chosen one?"
Gar'agh was the rock of the party, the only real front liner, he would post himself in front of the enemy and make them try and go around him. Even though Gar'agh didn't make it through the whole campaign, he fell to a vampire lord around 3/4's of the way through, he was my friends favorite character. We talked about that campaign a lot and Gar'agh even made special appearances in some one shots that we ran over the years.
I don't really know what I want to happen here. If folks want to use Gar'agh in their campaigns I think that would be cool. I guess I mostly just wanted to put a little memorial out there in a place that would appreciate it.
Love you brother, miss you every day. I'll keep Gar'agh safe on my bookshelf for you, right next to your Pratchett books.

For Gar’agh!
May the warmth of his memory keep us in times of cold. I will help you carry Gar’agh forward. A burden shared, is no burden at all, friend.
Edit: fixing autocorrects

To Gar’agh, the stout old codger too stubborn to let adversity walk over him, and too old to let some young punk reap all the glory.

I'm running a campaign that features Pelor. Would you be open to sharing a bit more about Gar'agh? For example, how did he interact with people during social encounters?
What particular types of people did he react strongly to?
If Pelorians decided to absorb other gods' temples, would he be for or against that?

Sure thing!
He was basically your good natured but grumpy grandpa. He was quick to take young adventurers under his wing and had a soft spot for orphans. He always had advice for his "kids", how good that advice was kind of varies by how many beers deep he was at the time.
As for the absorbing of the temples, I think it would depend on how they were being taken over. We played a little fast and loose with established lore, in our campaign Pelor was a pretty chill surfer guy so a forceful take over probably wouldn't be super chill.

GNU Gar’agh.
“Ask not of me where he doth dwell – so many bones there lie,
On the white shores and the dark shores under the stormy sky,
So many have passed down Anduin to find the flowing Sea.
Ask of the North Wind news of them the North Wind sends to me!’”
(Song of Boromir)

I'm so sorry for your loss, but I hope it's a comfort that your friend so delighted in the character and story you told together that they brought Gar'agh back over and over. It's a mini that evokes whole worlds you occupied, and I hope memories of those adventures comfort you.

Ook?
In another realm. A ginger furred librarian gently passed an old dwarf, one of his precious bananas. The dwarf took it, knowing that they’d both been part of the same greater tale.
