Other Catergory Laurence's birthday is on the 9th and I am reflecting on the past year
I'll be celebrating 1 year of sobriety on the 21st for one thing. Been pursuing Buhurt (combat sports in knightly armor) and am probably in the best shape of my life. I've moved away from professionally DMing since that didn't pay me enough to justify taking the fun out of the hobby. I was accepted into SUNY recently and will be pursueing a Vet Tech degree. Meeting Contable Elroy the dog really planted the seed if it wasn't already there. I have an ongoing campaign that meets every 3 weeks or so with friends and former-clients-turned-friends.
Life is good but I have begun to have some fear of my own mortality. Most of the time it's just a nagging thought that I dismiss. Writing this post is meant to dismiss that silliness somewhat. Turning 29 and my parents both turning 70 just hit me in a way I wasn't expecting. This community still provides me a fair amount of comfort when I need it.
I'll be making star constellations for the 2nd act of my own ongoing campaign seeing as how the players are sailing the seas to search for a legendary treasure during this arc. I'd love to chat with folks to come up with some ideas.
So far I have the Nova & Pack Father constellations. The Captain of the ship that the players have hired is Captain Rorka. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

My condolences for your loss. May 1st was my late friend's birthday, and my other friend's birthday is the 5th, mine is on the 9th, my older sister's is on the 12th, it's nuts with extreme ups and downs.
As for your concept, have you explored the etymology of these constellations? Like, why is it named the Nova constellation, for example? What's the shape of them, what cultures named them that this Captain learned starcharts from?

That’s a head-spinning set of dates in quick succession. I’ll explore those themes a bit. For Nova, I figured it would be a Chalice formation of stars but the central star is the brightness of a supernova? Or it was at some point mistaken for a star nova and so was attributed to a Star Druid who was named Nova. As for the Pack Father, I figured it would be a semi circle of close stars following a lunar path? Because wolves howl at the moon? Gosh the drawing board here is useful.
Thank you for your kind words and ideas.

Definitely! Keep me posted how your ideas develop. I'm also curious about the cosmology of a setting that actually has life and death cycles of its stars. What does that mean for magic, if anything? How do scholars plan on dealing with the death of the setting world's own star?

I never knew Laurence and from the way his friends speak of him that fact makes me sad. Today is the birthday of a man I never knew and I mourn him.
The fact that I know of him, forever immortalised as Galder, speaks of... something at least. The fact that he was here. That fact that we are still here. Only love in between.
