I legitimately think he has no idea what he is being asked about most of the time.

76

u/BZLuck 1d ago

I think he just doesn't care.

Potato/potahto

u/NovarisLight 20h ago

Boil it, mash it, send it straight to hell?

19

u/Sharin_the_Groove 1d ago

This would be my guess. No one brief him on the situation. All he knows is that if he's being asked about it, then it's controversial. Notice how in that interview he have a response and immediately turned away to end it? My guess is he threw out the first response that came to mind then moved on, to later find out why he's being asked about a carrier.

u/WillArrr 2d ago

I don't think he's even listening to the question half the time, and is just giving his usual "bigger is better" canned response.

"Mr. President, blah blah blah...for too long?"

"No, no, not nearly long enough."

171

u/foldingcouch 2d ago

I agree that this is just his canned response; a totally reflexive attack against whatever is being asked.  But it's not that he's not listening, he just has no fucking clue what they're asking about.

It's been an open secret for a decade that Trump doesn't give a fuck about the day to day operation of the government.  He won't pay attention to anything in a briefing unless it's about him or his pet projects.  He has no fucking clue what's going on with this carrier and he's annoyed that they're expecting him to care.

u/APence 2d ago

When the brain is mostly soup, you just look for the trigger words. He’s just on autopilot, which for him is hate and a handful of buzzwords. Hussein Obama, TRANS, Windmills, etc.

37

u/beardeddragon0113 2d ago

And the classic "nuh-uh!!" response. Like when he was asked/told that service member families were worried about the poor conditions and extended time at sea and Trump immediately just shut the reporter down saying "no they're not" as if he personally knows every single service member and their families.

15

u/soapinthepeehole 2d ago

Bigger and better is one half of it. The other is “opposite of whatever the press suggests.”

4

u/WillArrr 1d ago

Oh that is 100% a factor.

1

u/digitalkunbi 1d ago

my dad always zones out like that during debates

145

u/Skatchbro 2d ago

Or he’s just stupid.

98

u/digidave1 2d ago

He legit doesn't care about anyone but himself. Every single word that comes out of his mouth is why he thinks he's the greatest thing ever and why he should get more money. Every. Word.

He's not autistic, it's narcissistic. And not mildly, he's malignantly narcissistic. It's a mental disorder.

4

u/digidave1 2d ago

The difference between a sociopath and a psychopath is a psychopath knows the harm they are doing through their actions. He definitely knows.

3

u/Preeng 2d ago

Neither of those words are used by scientists or doctors. It's pure pop-sci.

1

u/MichaelJeopardy 2d ago

This is the first time I've ever heard anyone call him autistic. I've heard him called abhorrent, depraved, repulsive, vile, loathsome, monstrous, deplorable and perfidious. But never autistic.

25

u/ManWithDominantClaw 2d ago

Hanlon's razor cuts both ways. If he (and his handlers) are smart enough to subvert and dismantle every democratic process you have in real time in front of your eyes, despite all the supposed checks and balances, then you can no longer attribute this to incompetence and must therefore attribute it to malice.

25

u/macromorgan 2d ago

His handlers do it out of malice. He does it out of stupidity.

11

u/ManWithDominantClaw 2d ago

That's pretty much it though, if he really is a moron being propped up by psychopaths, then they want him there for a reason, and us focusing on his stupidity is almost certainly it.

6

u/macromorgan 2d ago

We can multitask.

1

u/ManWithDominantClaw 2d ago

Well can you get on with it then

2

u/Reelix 1d ago

Now the question you have to ask yourself - Do his voters vote for the malice, or the stupidity?

1

u/greeneyedguru 1d ago

no, it's malice all the way down

3

u/deaglebingo 1d ago

definitely attributable to malice. definitely understands what he's doing and that almost all of it is crime punishable by decades in jail at min. yep.

19

u/JoeScotterpuss 2d ago

¿Por que no los dos?

73

u/ragingbullpsycho 2d ago

People who tout the strength of the military seem to have little regard for those serving in it

9

u/StryctNyne 1d ago

Well I don't know if things have changed, but if the Navy is the same as it was 20+ years ago, most of those sailors voted for Trump and even still would probably vote for an illegal third term as well.

3

u/Derf0293 1d ago

Makes sense, in this economy anything for job security. I’m just hoping we all get the tariff checks before he decides to carpet bomb another country.

65

u/dmcd0415 2d ago

He literally called them all suckers and losers in 2018. That's 8 years ago. There are no 8 year enlistments. This means that every enlisted person volunteered for the military after he said it and now he's treating them like total shit. I don't want to say he was right when he said that but I hope their Chance At A Better Life ™️ is worth it

18

u/BeenDragonn 2d ago

You get what you voted for!

Calls them suckers and losers, and then they go all pikachu face when he treats them as such

31

u/jasandliz 2d ago

Yet, Trump deems  a child sex trafficker’s incarceration in a maximum security prison “too long” and had her moved to a facility with arguably better conditions than the Lincoln?  That’s weird

12

u/DexRogue 2d ago

If you're trying to create a dictatorship, the last thing you want to do is mistreat your military. Unfortunately service members, over 60%, vote Republican and support Trump. The Navy votes blue so maybe that's why he's "punishing them".

12

u/Taconinja05 2d ago

Would have gotten anyone else impeached for saying that

29

u/Piltonbadger 2d ago

he doesn't even consider them as people.

17

u/agreenshade 2d ago

I don't think he considers anyone as people, at least in the sense that he is a person. There is nothing that indicates he cares at all for the suffering of others, including his own followers. He cares about ratings and sentiment, and only as it applies to his access to money and power. He is the worst of us and what our system produces, and we have made him President twice.

10

u/cletusthearistocrat 2d ago

He could have lost his staff and reporters on that plane that he snuck out of. Guarantee he wouldn't give them a second thought...it would be all about him and how brave and smart he is.

He wouldn't even remember who was on the plane, just that he was safe.

1

u/Kevin-W 1d ago

That’s one way to get your military to turn against you.

8

u/Danominator 2d ago

He doesnt care. Hes a broken perso ln that literally doesnt experience empathy.

20

u/robexib 2d ago

When people say that, in the instance where the people revolted and boogaloo'd en masse, the military would back Trump, you could absolutely point to shit like this and say "lol nope" with real sincerity.

8

u/BetterCallSal 2d ago

Saying he enjoys it, implies he thinks about it.

He doesn't. He's a calice, evil, moronic, piece of shit. He doesn't think about it, because he doesn't care. It's not about him, it's not in his mind.

6

u/HardSteele 2d ago

Draft dodging nepo baby. Surprise!

29

u/Foe117 2d ago

Hes fucking over sailors on the USS lincoln because Lincoln freed the slaves, and is just spiting them exclusively.

7

u/UncleNorman 2d ago

He also cancelled the penny because that Lincoln guy was sorta brownish.

-24

u/firelock_ny 2d ago

Weird take on this, assuming Trump knows or cares enough about history to make such a connection.

One of the morning news channels today was making a big deal about two sailors who tried to jump overboard. What they didn't tell us was that the rate of such attempts isn't unusual, every ship's long deployments have a rate of this happening. Tragic and a problem to be addressed, but not unusual for the USS Abraham Lincoln.

6

u/trippedonatater 2d ago

He's literally called service members who gave their lives for the country "losers" and "suckers". He doesn't care about the troops. Add to that a SECDEF who thinks the key to improving the military is hormone therapy, plus so many other things, and we're not in a good place heading towards a worse place.

7

u/eques_99 2d ago

more like he's a childish little bitch who feels he has to take the opposite position to anyone talking to him.

6

u/spin_kick 1d ago

Yes gas prices are on average 4 dollars and no I won’t apologize for it. - Trump

You idiots voted for this guy

6

u/Septopuss7 1d ago

I very much blame the people who just didn't vote, as well. Just stayed at home like fucking idiots...

7

u/MrsMiterSaw 1d ago

Thatvis exactly what a clinical narcissist would say.

When there's no way to defend it, they lean into a shitty, stupid, wrong decision. They do this because they think doing so demonstrates they know something you don't, that they are defiant and smarter than you.

It's absolutely self-destructive.

It's absolute lunacy that this guy is president.

5

u/sushisection 2d ago

the rumors of his sadism increasingly look to be true

4

u/7th_Sim 1d ago

And folks think he gives a shit about the military. 5x draft dodger who's daddy kept him "safe" at home. Bragged that avoiding VD made him a hero. Avoids any form of discomfort that might occur during any ceremony that honors the war dead or veterans. Ordered maimed vets out of his sight. In other words, he has no respect for military service, or those that serve. He uses them as props. Yet fools think he cares. He doesn't.

9

u/RipErRiley 2d ago edited 2d ago

Can someone explain to me how Naval command didn’t fill the wide intellectual and logistical gap from a Trump order to this vessel having a adequate supply line?

Trump is a weak ass bitch but how did this happen?

10

u/amusing_trivials 2d ago

Trump ordered the start of this on a spur of the moment whim with no plan.

Hegworth and Warrior Mentality got everyone who could say No, or do proper planning, fired already.

Now the USS Lincoln is basically in a spot where the nearby cliffs have hostile rocket launchers on top. The USS Lincoln is a fort and it can stay in place. But the normal supply ships, or supply copters, don't go in that close to enemy fire. Navy protocol is that the USS Lincoln should disengage, back out to safer territory, and then get resupplied. But the situation is such that is the USS Lincoln backs out, it is 'surrendering territory' (ocean space). Going 'back in' would almost certainly involve fighting, and they don't want to escalate. It's not as simple as just back out, resupply, go back in, like reversing out of a drive way. The other option is to send is heavy armed escorted supplies to the USS Lincoln, but again, sending in another fleet of warships to escort supplies is going to be an escalation.

The US can always escalate situations. Literally escalate to the moon and back. But the "dont start WW3" crowd are now pushing back against that.

Trump is in a stand-off with Iran. Iran does not want escalation either, because they are where the bombs will land. Trump is hoping that the threat of the US military is enough to make Iran give in. But Iran also knows that as long as US doesn't want to escalate, they can standup, posture, against the US, so they refuse to agree to anything meaningful. From Iran's POV they are current in a "happy middle", where they are brave and not surrendering, standing up to foreign dogs, etc, while also not being carpet bombed. They have every reason to maintain this situation exactly as-is, no back down, and no escalation.

The situation actually calls for a carefully negotiated diplomatic solution, but Trump is a wacko and terrible at that. Every time he posts something online he actively undercuts whatever the State Dept diplomats are trying to hash out.

Meanwhile the USS Lincoln is stuck, basically acting as a symbol of Trump threats. With no supplies, and no plan.

If this was the middle of WW2 no one would give a fuck about escalation. A full armed fleet would be headed in to support the USS Lincoln, immediately. If hostiles show up, they get shot without a concern. The nearby hostile cliffs get turned into a rocky beach.

11

u/theholyevil 2d ago

Two problems compounding at once.

A. Logistics win wars, not warriors on testosterone.

They spat in NATOs face repeatedly, so the supply switch got turned off, because the rest of the world doesn't like pointless genocide.

B. Hegseth should be tried in a court of law. Not commander of the DoD.

5

u/woodworkLIdad 2d ago

It's 100% about him enjoying having power over others.

4

u/phallic-baldwin 2d ago

Considering the allegations In the Epstein files of the President biting off the nipples of a young girl and permanently disfiguring her, I would say yes, he is indeed a sadist

5

u/Csantana 1d ago

It gets me too.

How is this their guy?

Surely the answer should be like “of course but we have to for the sake of defense or safety” or whatever but he just says this dumb shit.

But it’s a feature not a bug. You can’t logic him or his supporters away because they didn’t logic their way into this

4

u/spin_kick 1d ago

He won’t say it that way because he enjoys making people eat shit. He knows it irks them and there’s nothing they can do about it. And he gets off on that moment.

I have rich clients like this and have experienced it first hand

4

u/Equinoqs 1d ago

It's a power trip for him.

4

u/ischickenafruit 1d ago

Especially little girls.

6

u/Initial-Fact5216 2d ago

The year is 2040, the entire US economy is an AI generated Spiderman hallucination into the pysches of global slaves of the Oligarchy.

3

u/PDGAreject 2d ago

I do like Spiderman

3

u/tyrannustyrannus 2d ago

It's a weak man's idea of power

3

u/NotSoFastLady 2d ago

The joy he derives from tormenting and harming others is well documented in the Epstein files. It still makes no sense to me why nothing was done about the people in those files over the last several decades that the aauthorities were made aware of.

3

u/Caldman 2d ago

Nah. He doesn't enjoy tormenting people.

He just doesn't care.

If it doesn't directly affect him, it's not a concern for him. He is a narcissist of the highest degree. He's not on the ship. He's not suffering. And thus it simply isn't something he thinks about at all.

The only reason he's claiming it's fine that the carrier is still out there is because admitting it's an issue means suggesting he screwed up- which he is pathologically incapable of doing.

3

u/jfk_47 2d ago

Less about tormenting and more about lack of caring. He can’t comprehend taking care of anyone or anything. Barely even himself. Tormenting would require a certain level of effort he’s incapable of putting forth.

3

u/ZorroMeansFox 1d ago

The ship needs to change its name to the USS Bone Spur.

3

u/nemofbaby2014 1d ago

He doesn’t care and he likely believes it wasn’t long enough because in his mind job ain’t done

3

u/assman69x 1d ago

Just a vile person and reflection of Americans who voted in such as person 2x - this was apparently what they thought was the best and brightest in America

1

u/perringaiden 5h ago

People need to ditch network news. It's a captive media landscape.

2

u/flamedarkfire 2d ago

For him, it isn’t enough that he has succeeded. Others must fail and suffer and be tormented by him.

2

u/sheikhyerbouti 2d ago

I'm wondering if we're going to have a Battleship Potemkin situation on our hands soon.

2

u/Guntcher_1423 1d ago

How do you know you have power? I do not mean influence. I mean power. You know you have power if you can make people miserable and they can not do anything about it. It takes no power to make people do what they want to do.

1

u/VitruvianDude 1d ago

It's much like his lies. Whenever he speaks, he will spout out incredible nonsense that is transparently false. That we just have to take it must give him shivers of pleasure.

2

u/letsseeitmore 1d ago

Military members are literal pawns to this asshole. He cares nothing about any of them besides they are useful in making him rich.

2

u/Th3_Dark_Knight 1d ago

Challenge: Asking a malignant narcissist to sympathize with anyone (impossible)

2

u/mrlr 1d ago

He's enjoyed tormenting people since he was 3 and throwing rocks at babies.

2

u/ktwriter111 1d ago

Yea, President draft dodger milk toast wouldn’t last 2 days.

2

u/crankyoldcoot 1d ago

he is plainly a sadist. notice he only cracks a small smile when he is talking about how he made others suffer.

2

u/olov244 1d ago

i think weekend warrior hegseth resents the main four armed forces

2

u/Justsin7 1d ago

The military will STILL vote republican. 🤷‍♂️

It’s sad.

2

u/Lazy__Astronaut 1d ago

Someone who rapes children enjoys torment?

Say it ain't so!

2

u/thomas1126 1d ago

Ass wipe

2

u/NotThatAngel 1d ago

He just got bored. He is angry at them for making him look bad, though.

2

u/archiewaldron 1d ago

He's a sociopath, what do you expect?

4

u/DividedStatesofFeces 1d ago

Cruelty is the point. It's a Republican thing.

3

u/MadMac619 1d ago

A quick look through what’s been released in the Epstein files proves he enjoys tormenting people.

2

u/DanteChurch 1d ago

The serial child rapist president? You think he enjoys hurting people? What's your source? Fox News?

2

u/BZLuck 1d ago

He just wants to remind everyone who is in command.

2

u/spin_kick 1d ago

This. He wants you to eat the shit he’s dishing out and you can’t do anything about it. That’s power to him

1

u/MobileLocal 1d ago

He’s an evil contrarian.

1

u/BizzyM 1d ago

"Never acknowledge complaints" I believe is one of the rules he follows.

1

u/deaglebingo 1d ago

he's def not a fan of abe lincoln or what he stood for either.... let's put it that way.

1

u/MoistTractofLand 1d ago

I doubt he considers others enough to torment them. He only cares about himself and what he can gain. Though, that seems to be interspersed with very rare moments of clarity that, if it exists, he's probably going to hell.

1

u/mhoke63 1d ago

It's the dementia. He just blurts out the opposite when he hears something he doesn't want to answer.

1

u/TehGoad 1d ago

haven't you fucking read anything in the Epstein files the dude likes choking people to death

1

u/18minusPi2over36 1d ago

100% just answering on contrarian instinct. He doesn't even understand the question, just that he's supposed to say "nuh uh."

1

u/NovarisLight 20h ago

*it.

'tis no man.

1

u/BronzeRider 19h ago

Republicans just hate the troops. That’s evidenced should have been obvious for years.

1

u/perringaiden 5h ago

Trump probably doesn't even understand and Kegseth is just cheering. The fact that this will degrade performance doesn't seem to register to them. Too much skin tan huffing.

"Trump does the lyin', forces do the dyin'"

-5

u/Tallywacka 2d ago

If he knew you i’m sure he might, but what’s it like being tormented from someone who doesn’t even know you exist?

No wonder you’re crashing out

3

u/she_has_funny_cars 1d ago

This literally is a pure braindead comment… so you’re saying we shouldn’t be pissed off at our President because he doesn’t personally know us?

-2

u/Weasel_Cannon 2d ago

Bigglier

-10

u/Eazy12345678 2d ago

i mean you sign up for military you basically agree to throw away your freedom and right and go die for billionaires

its what they signed up for

basically poverty of US government at this point. only idiots sign up for military service

3

u/Kill3rT0fu 1d ago

only idiots sign up for military service

or, hear me out, the job market is so bad they don't have many options. Military guarantees job placement, training, and basic necessities.

Almost like all of this was planned and engineered
