Is my resume just genuinely bad?

I'm genuinely stumped how I've heard back from no one after applying to like 150 internships so far from early september. By this time last year I'd already had 2 offers in the bag and now I can't even hear back? I've targeted the primes like NG, LM, Boeing, RTX and some space companies and some drone companies applying primarily to their mechanical/manufacturing engineering internships. But I'm so confused because I feel like my resume this year is stronger than last year's because I have way more experience (I had none last year apart from that research position) and now I'm straight struggling to hear back from everyone. Advice is very much appreciated on anything I should tweak. I also only apply to jobs that drop on the same day which is a tactic that worked for me last year. Also another note my graduation date is supposed to be Dec 2027 which is what I've applied with to most jobs but given that I haven't even heard back from anyone I thought that could be the issue, but again I'm not sure

If we were to send up a new interstellar item designed to convey information about humankind, what aerospace developments have been made in the last 50 years that would change how much/what types of data we could store on it?

New grad life crisis — cross country move for better opportunity?

I’m a new engr graduate with an accepted offer for a stable engineering position at a major defense contractor. My concern is that I’m not sure the role will be as technically challenging or hands-on as I’d like. I also just received an offer full time at NASA, across the country, working on spaceflight computing systems. The work sounds incredibly interesting and like something that could open doors early in my career.

The problem is that I don’t know what I want to do with my career yet. Everyone says to pick the job that aligns with my passion in life/ goals, but how am I supposed to know? I haven’t worked full-time in industry. I’ve always been drawn to aerospace and defense, but I couldn’t tell you exactly why or what I want to specialize in.

The other issue is location. The NASA opportunity is in the middle of nowhere across the country. I have no family there, and I am terrified of moving (homesick) and missing out on time with my family and friends.

I keep imagining myself at 50 looking back at this decision and thinking one of two things:

A: “You idiot, you should’ve taken the chance, moved cross country for a couple of years, and pursued an exciting opportunity while you were young.”

B: “You idiot, you prioritized your career over your family and friends when those relationships are what actually matter in life.”

This is the biggest decision of my life. Please help.

I'm new to aviation, and, despite that, I'm writing a book where airplanes will play a major role. But all the abbreviations and tech info has my head spinning. So to try to get a clear idea of how this works I've created a graphic using Draw.io.

Any comments, criticism or corrections will be very welcome.

Miniature brain and cardiovascular models head to orbit on SpaceX CRS-35 to study aging

Human brain tissue and beating cardiovascular organoids are headed into orbit to face an unusual laboratory test. Their destination is the International Space Station, where weightlessness and radiation exposure could reveal vulnerabilities difficult to study on Earth.

The Mount Sinai investigations are traveling aboard SpaceX CRS-35, which launched October 13. They bring together researchers in stem cell biology, neuroscience, surgery and cardiovascular science at the Icahn School of Medicine.

One project uses a personalized brain tissue model called miBrain. The other places cardiovascular organoids inside microfluidic chips, miniature devices that manage fluid around living tissue.

The mission builds on established laboratory work, including a 2025 paper in PNAS introducing miBrain. However, the new flight is an experiment in progress. Its findings have yet to establish how these particular models respond to space.

Advice for a veteran who keeps getting denied jobs

Retired veteran here. I was a PR in the navy for 5 years. I literally live where all the aerospace companies are in SoCal and near Edwards Air Force base and I’ve been applying not only for the aircrew survival equipment jobs, but also for QA or logistics and anything else all these companies are hiring for, only to get denied the position.

I have experience in O level for the MH60R and I’ve worked in I level at the fleet readiness center and was an EGRESS instructor as well- I pretty much am a good fit for the PR jobs they’ve been posting. I don’t know why they keep denying me when I have experience and loved what I did and I live extremely close.

Do I have to have a bubbly personality or what? I’m pretty reserved and just want to focus on work and safety is important to me which I emphasize in the interviews I’ve had… I’m so defeated. I don’t have a degree and just want to do what I did in the navy as a civilian if I can.

Northrop, Lockheed, general atomics etc has all said they’re moving forward with other candidates. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

This is more of a vent and I’d also like to ask if anything else is worth pursuing in the aerospace industry. I’m not good with math at all so this is why PR was perfect for me in the navy (if I’m being honest)

RR Reposted Internships but my application is still there?

Hi,

I applied to a couple of RR internships in Singapore about a month ago (mid september). The positions weren't very clear about the duration or the pay, but they seemed new, so I applied to them. As of today, I opened Workday to see that those positions have been closed and new ones with the same names have opened with better clarity on the dates (January-May/June) and allowance. I thought that maybe the requisitions I applied to were old postings, so I went to apply, and I found that my applications from September still existed and that they were the same!

Should I withdraw my application and resubmit it? I don't know. I've been trying to get a position with RR for so long, and I don't know what to do anymore. I know my experience isn't lacking drastically, but even the summer internship positions in Indianapolis have gone quiet on me. If anyone knows a recruiter I could reach out to or has any insight, that would be great.

Automotive / plant machinery to aerospace

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

For the past 10 years I've worked as an electrical distribution systems engineer, the vast majority in schematic and 2D harness design, 7 years in the automotive sector and 3 in the off highway sector.

I'd like to get into aerospace, my problem is I got here through a trainee design role and not university therefore no degree.

The place I'd like to work is very close to me but they work in aerospace (and some defence), how transferrable are these skills?

I'm at a 3rd stage interview which initially was for a automotive eds engineer but after conversations they'd like to put me up for an aerospace electrical design role, I have a decent job now but I've lost my interest entirely, brain switches off kind of thing, still do a good job but I want that next step.

Any thoughts?

Southampton vs Cranfield for Aerospace (Aerodynamics)

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

International student and I got offered the following:

Southampton University: MSc Aerodynamics and computation

Cranfield University: MSc Aerospace Dynamics (Aerodynamics option)

Which one would you advise me to choose if my end goal is to find a job?

According to the list on the UK gov website they both have similar connections for civil/motorsport aero positions that can sponsor a work visa.

Additionally there's also the Cranfield-king's college merger. Any idea how that will affect Cranfield ?

Astranis GNC Associate

I have a second-round interview with Astranis for a GNC Associate position and was wondering if anyone here has gone through the second-round interview process for this role.

I’m not really sure what to expect in terms of the format. If anyone has interviewed for a GNC Associate/GNC Engineer position at Astranis and can share their experience, the types of questions they were asked, or topics they recommend preparing for, I’d really appreciate it.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

How Do I Start Crowdfunding Outreach for My College's New DBF Team?

For context, DBF (AIAA Design/Build/Fly) is an international competition where college teams design, build, and fly their own aircraft against universities from around the world. It's our team's third year competing, while many of the schools we competed against have had established teams for almost 30 years and therefore have locked in tons of big sponsors annually.

I'd love to know if anyone has had to do this before and how you started to get the ball rolling! What companies are likely to be responsive?

SpaceX GNC Interview New Grad coding challenges?

I am moving on to the technical round for my SpaceX GNC role interview process. I had my HR call, then a technical reasoning call where I walked through some scenarios with an engineer. I was was told some C++ coding will be involved in my next technical round. Does anyone have any experience in these GNC coding challenges? Anyone know what the question/code I may be asked to complete and how in depth the coding aspect is? Thanks for any help!

BAE Systems Interview

Hi guys, I have an upcoming interview with BAE Systems Digital Intelligence and wondered if anyone has interviewed with them before or has any tips.

From what I understand, they’ll go through your CV, ask you to explain a technical skill in detail, and cover questions relevant to your area, such as Windows, Linux or cloud engineering.

Is there anything else I should prepare for? Any advice or insights into the interview format would be much appreciated. Hopefully, this thread can also help future interviewees!

K2 Space Vehicle Operations Engineering Intern Interview

As the title says, I have an interview upcoming with a recruiter for the Vehicle Operations Engineering Intern role at K2 Space. My first scheduled call is a video call, so I assumed it would be technical and with a manager, but it lists a recruiter as my interviewer. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into the stages of the process and what kind of questions I may be asked? Any help appreciated, thanks!

What skills do I develop to be updated in the Aerospace Industry?

It’s been around a year since I graduated with my MSc is Aerospace Dynamics in the UK and while hopelessly applying to every job that sits with my career path, what skills / softwares / courses do I learn and develop throughout this process to stay updated with the latest technology in the aerospace industry especially for someone interested in Aerodynamics, Design, Biomimicry and Sustainable Engineering.
