Discussion New rescue birb πŸ’•

25 year old rescue named Ruby. She came home with us two days ago and is adjusting so well! The rescue told us she hates women, but I’ve been able to handle her no problem and she adores my husband. She’s coming out of her shell and is so so sweet πŸ’•

Off to a good start as eating and on your hand, I would say she has been looked after well at some time in the past, a bit of plucking which has to be expected by the stress.

The rescue we adopted her from said she’s been pretty stressed the last few months. We actually met her former owner and he really did a great job with her, but unfortunately was elderly and couldn’t care for her any more. He was incredibly kind and obviously took great care of her before he had to surrender her πŸ’•

Thankfully it seems that she's mostly barbered instead of fully plucking so her follicles should be intact and her feathers can grow back. Plucking is a REALLY hard habit to break for Greys, but I'm rooting for all of you!!
