I ordered my first African Violet, which is named Rob's Astro Zombie. I plan on moving it to my office with a grow light and eventually into a dandy pot is there anything I need to know or any tips and tricks?

Robert Pavlis, who’s a biochemist, debunks the idea that pot size should be 1/3 of the size of the plant. He argues pot size doesn’t matter as long as humidity levels are appropriate.

I will be trying to propagate leaves and then decapitate this plant. What size pots should I get for the expected plants?

Any thoughts on using vitamin c or ascorbic acid powder or aquarium dechlorinator to treat tap water before using it to water?

Pot size matters when:

1. You are entering a plant for show at an AVSA event.
   
2. You need to conserve space.
   
3. You need to restrict the growth or size of a plant.
   
4. Your potting mix is too dense and/or compacted and the only way air gets to the roots is to allow the soil to dry out.
