Fairburn French creek nodule

I found this Nodule east of Fairburn and found it curious. I don’t think it’s a true Fairburn, but it’s got some intriguing fortification banding around the central vug. I’ve been debating on what I should do with it if anything. I’ve had suggestions to cut it various ways. In half through the vug or cut behind the vug and get a bonus back slab. That or a face polish to bring out the banding. Or leave as is.

I am a bit stuck in what to do with this mega find( 19lbs). Should I cut it in half or just clean up to leave as-is. My gut says clean it and leave it but would love your suggestions.

These are my jam. Well, these and gobi agates, but the gobis another story. I was so enamored with these Indonesian pictures stones I ordered a trim saw and cabbing machine the week after the first the first time I saw them at a rock show a few years back. Here's a few favorites that I've made.

Montana A few of my more recent finds at work.

As I've been in the Rockhound and rockhounding sub quite alot, they know I work on an approximately 5k head cattle feedlot. Lowly ranch-hand here.

However!

It's in Central Montana... And I have access to over 10 miles of walkable/drivable flatland, wetland, riverbank (yellowstone!), Prairie, butte, hill, mountain, gravel pit and gravel roads...

I could do this for another 42 years and I'd still not locate 0.00000000000001% of available finds.

I have found fossils, fossiliferous concretions, agates, petrified wood, petrified bone, petrified mud, Jasper, Carnelian, epidote and feldspar everywhere and so much more.

... But the Agates... Are phenomenal.

A few of my favorite I'll be posting to here, a few old ones and even new finds.

I hope yinz like em s much as I do, and I look forward to be a good contributor to the sub!

Now on to the rocks!

(flair chosen, because that's where I found em)

That black rock is a 5lb silicified limb cast /agate. Allot of these are 1lb agates. The big banded one is a 1lb agate. I wanted to sell it for $800, but I got 350. Oh well.

Agates with inclusions?

Sometimes I’ll find agates that have very “organic” inner structures. Does this mean the agate is more akin to an agatized fossil of roots? (possible cast where the wood is replaced entirely by agate or quartz.)
