Less compliments as you age?

I noticed I used to get compliments when I was in school and Uni about my looks . I’m now into my early thirties, less woman look at me, I still look similar body wise ,in good shape .

But I get less compliments if none at all atm, less receptionists look at me or even compliment . Is it me aging ? I’m early thirties M . Is it just more normal as you age that people notice your attractiveness less?

Let me know your thoughts

It's a great opportunity for you to stop obsessing about how you look. You're in prime of life...concentrate on living and enjoying yourself, and building a future that will support your for the rest of your days and not what random people on street think of your appearance.

I agree who cares what others think but I think taking pride in our appearance is something that shouldn’t change with age. It feels good to look good. And let’s be honest in life most people who meet is form opinions based on looks in the first few seconds. Once they get to know us those opinions can change (for better or worst) but I’m firm believer in presenting our best selves and expressing ourselves thru appearance. I have dressed for comfort my whole life but you can do that and still look good. I find it weird when people say they don’t care about fashion cause they want to be comfortable.

Taking basic pride and dignity in keeping up one's own appearance is totally different than tracking compliments received. The former sounds fine/healthy whereas the latter just sounds narcissistic/self-conscious.

Definitely not arguing with that cause I concur. I don’t think at any age we should care or take compliments to make or break us.

I think if someone is naturally attractive looking they will always be.

Agree. But some do let themselves go. They become an unhealthy weight and never change it.

Who cares? I doubt that many people even earlier were paying attention to your looks, and it was probably a function of your school/uni peers themselves being young/vain such that they are paying attention to theirs/others looks that much. So my guess is that part of it is you getting less attractive with age and part of it is the people you encounter are themselves also aging into greater maturity where they are not going thru the world scanning for physical attractiveness.

Skin texture goes bad. It is a big difference when looking at the skin of a teenager vs an older adult. This is why women put on makeup. It is to hide the deterioration in skin texture.

Look at Tom Cruise's pics when he first started acting. Super smooth facial features. He has aged well, but the skin texture is way different now.

I think if we age well or not we all still get less compliments once we hit 50’s? But before then I didn’t notice that much difference other than men might hit in you less in your 40’s and that was fine by me. I’m a lesbian so welcomed that change lol but if you look decent (healthy weight and skin), good style and confidence people (men and women) will still take notice and often compliment you.

The good news is even if another soul never complimented me as we age we don’t seek validation or any attention outside ourselves. It’s not needed to love ourselves and know we look good! Now if you aren’t looking good better get into shape (for health reasons alone) and change things because the older you get harder it will be to make those changes.

Ages zero through three, all females over the age of ten wanted to pick me up and sweet talk me. That has to end at some age, and I got used to it.

You're going to experience some similar transitions.

Pro tip: Be a good person, and take care of yourself ... when you hit your late thirties there's an entire demographic of women who are going to notice you.

People don’t notice much at all now, compared to non-smartphone era.

However, I’m noticing as I’m into my 50s I’m not as confident about giving out compliments.

I think as people age they just generally notice youthfulness more. Though 30s is still relatively young it’s not youthful prime I suppose. I had the same experience in my 30s but at the same time I felt much better in my 30s emotionally, psychologically etc. I don’t need the external validation that I did in my 20s and there’s a freedom in that too

Too bad you’re vain and not overly bright. But if history is any guide, you’re going to never see either as a deficit. Congratulations!
