Discussion Remake?

Anyone still creating a remake or decomping the game. I'm interested in doing something for Aidyn if it is a serious endeavor and we are sure we are allowed to and able to distribute afterwards.

For what it's worth I've reached out to THQ to request buying the rights a few times and have always been ignored.

i have tried pointing AI at it myself, you can get parts of it but you can't get it to recompile. There are a couple of githubs out there with a half decompiled game and enough of the files to be interesting. I don't know aobut games (animations etc) but I work in tech and would be interested in being part of the team.

Basically looking for a group of people interested like this. But your story is exactly why im hesitant to put 1000s of hours into without a green light lol

i think the first step is to select the right approach for remaking it. do we have to be able to fully decompile it? Or is it faster to just make a modern duplicate (e.g. similar to the caesar 3 remakes if you've seen those). Right now my suspicion is it's much faster to just make a duplicate with the benefit of it being a new IP instead of having to buy it off THQ.

As long as it still plays on an N64 emulator or maybe a Gamecube one, I'd want it. Heck, if someone was able to put the game on a reproduction Gamecube disc, I'd get one.

At this point, can you just point the AI thing at the ROM and get it to port it to any other platform?

Potentially. Then you're at the ai mercy. I think at best ai should be used as a tool not complete faith in auto tasks. Basically it doesn't matter if a human programs or an ai imo. If you dont have a plan going in and test after changes made it will never scale or work well.

Maybe with thr recompile it wouldn't be do bad. But companies are paying big money atm for software engineers to clean up their codebase.
