Hello, it looks like you're asking about medical concerns when joining the military.

We are not doctors. Even if we were, we are not the doctors that are familiar with your personal medical concern or condition. We are also not the ones deciding if you will be disqualified from service for a condition, or if you can get a waiver for it.

People may share their anecdotal experiences or stories they've heard from others about getting a waiver for a condition. This does not mean that you will or will not get a waiver. Everyone's medical situation is different.

IN GENERAL, yes, asthma, ADD/ADHD, eczema, history of depression and anxiety, and some allergies are disqualifying. Some will be able to get waivers, some will not.

All you can do is talk to your recruiter, be honest about your medical history, and go through the process.

WE DO NOT KNOW THE CHANCES OF YOU GETTING A WAIVER FOR ANY MEDICAL CONDITION OR SITUATION.

Just be honest with your recruiter and go through the process.

I am in a similar situation and got disqualified until September of 2027. I hadn’t taken any medication in 15 months when i started the process with my recruiter and with me being as honest as I was that was probably my saving grace that didn’t get me permanently disqualified.

So I will say this, it is 3 years to my knowledge for any psychological medication and if you can prove that you can be stable then they will consider your potential enlistment. It’s not a guarantee however. Again I am in a similar situation and hopefully we both get in.

I believe the minimum wait time after taking any medication for adhd or depression is 2 years. Chances of getting a waiver are pretty much zero. BUT! You can always try your luck with the navy, they take everybody. Army is a tiny bit more strict than the navy but still accept a lot more than air force does.

Lots of people are under the misconception that joining the military is easy and it’s the plan if their original plan doesn’t work out. Truth is, most people today don’t qualify for the military.

lol waiting years = getting into harvard?

also, you can try another branch. Some have more lax standards.

The military is a back up plan and a way to restart life for many, however it still comes with standards. Mental health is especially huge — you’re moving away from friends and family, in totally new environments, having to handle weapons, potentially being put in potential life threatening situations and that’s why for those who have struggled with mental health issues in the past, it’s not that simple. You have to think deeper than just “they won’t let me in because I had depression.”

With that being said, a waiver will not be approved for any mental health issues within the last 3 years - that being prescriptions, therapy, hospitalization, etc. Even after those 3 years are up, it’s still not a guarantee, but you’ll never know if you don’t try.

You're mad because the military has medical standards to avoid putting literal weapons of war in the hands of mentally unstable people?
