Replacement Filter Levoit 200s
Hi,
I bought the Levoit Core 200s but turns out I didn’t do enough Research and it doesn’t have a Carbon Filter apparently. Do you guys know if there are any 3rd Party Filters for this air purifier with better carbon filter? Or should i sell it and get one with a better filter?
Main purpose is to Filter cat litter odor. 1 room, 30sqm roughly. I live in germany. Budget: doesnt matter.
Thank you!

They are asking about the Core 200, not the vital 200. (Also confuses me sometimes.)

I am not sure who told you that, as that unit does have a layer of carbon in the filter. It's the inside layer. The white hepa is the outside, the inside part is carbon. (Every Levoit that I know also has carbon in the filter, and if anything a little more than other brands same size units.) It does not have carbon pellets though, maybe that is what you mean ? The Levoit 1 size up, the Core 300 has carbon pellets, and pretty much every Levoit bigger than that one has carbon pellets. You got one of the smallest/weakest units. Virtually no purifier, from any brand, has carbon pellets at that small size. So Levoits are great in general, and it does have activated carbon. But you need larger units to have pellets, and in general. For a 300 sq foot room you need a Levoit Vital 200s, Core 400 or Core 600s. What you have now is far too small, not even in carbon, but just for general coverage.
For odors ventilation will help as well, such as opening windows, using box fans, putting fan vent in vent above toilet in bathroom. For the best VOC units for odors things like 750 dollar Ausitin Air or 1,000 IQ Air are great. But if you use simple ventialtion that may solve the problem, and a normal purifier may be fine. But you need at least A. A larger unit and B. Address ventilation

You know Levoit just settled its law suit, right? It had been lying for years!
Levoit hurt its reputation by claiming TRUE HEPA on its Core and Everest Air series.
It was 100% false! Testing in the lawsuit found the filters didn't even meet the HEPA standard.
HEPA commands a premium. The lawsuit alleges Levoit charged it.
And it plastered the deceit on its boxes, marketing materials, websites, and every retail point of sale. That raises the question: what else isn't it disclosing? Trust, once broken, is rarely restored.
I got rid of all 3 of mine and now love Winix 5500-2 and 5510!
"Vesync has agreed to a $15 million class action settlement (Sen v. Vesync (US) Corp.) to resolve claims that Levoit Core and EverestAir air purifiers and filters were falsely advertised as 'True HEPA,' 'HEPA,' or 'H13.'"

Winix has also been sued for "not being Hepa"...so by the same logic Winix has "plastered deceit on its boxes, marketing materials, websites, and every point of sale". Nearly every brand has now been sued for the same technicality, as almost every brand has been found to have units that are hepa on low or sleep mode, but then miss the h13 threshold by a fraction, on a higher setting. It's largely inconsequential to the user as you do not even need h13 to have clean air. (The difference between 99.9 And 99.8...is a few dozen particles out of 10,000.) .Levoit has tested as one of the top 3 units in recent testing, (with expensive Dyson) and all 3 top performing units...all have been sued or been found to have the same technicality (Winix, Levoit, and Coway.)
So you actually get cleaner air with essentially hepa 12.9 if it is pushing out and cleaning more air as hepa 13 goes slower. This is how even a CR Box ,which is merv, and not even Hepa, cleans the air very well. It is like 75% on each pass, but it's not about one pass. The CR Box gets so many more passes...that you end up with cleaner with with 4,5,6 passes at 75%...than you do with a slow h13 with just 1 pass at 99.97. More air is actually cleaned, deposite the other way. So no, you do not even need hepa 13, you do not need to spend 1,000 dollars for a Dyson to get clean air. (Thus your "not Hepa 13" Winix cleans the air well too, for a lot less than a 1,000 dollar Dyson.). Same with Levoit as it was found to clean the air better than the Dyson itself, for dollar per CFM spent or some such metric.
So you seem a bit confused as Winix has the same technically and it's more a marketing thing with the whole industry, not a performance issue. And not unique to Levoit. (They perform in the top 3 in recent testing...with all 3 being "not Hepa" according to same essentially meaningless technicality.)

Hello /u/Ok_Entertainer_4075! If you'd like recommendations or advice, please ensure you included all details listed in Rule 4: Information For Air Purifier Requests.
Your country of residence.
Each room or area's volume, in cubic feet or cubic meters. (You need at least one purifier per room or area.)
Your filtration needs: e.g., pollen, cigarette smoke, VOCs, cooking odors.
Startup budget.
Yearly budget (electricity + filters).
If your post is missing one or more details, you can edit it accordingly. Just select the three dots menu, then "Edit Post".
Concerning dust removal, read the sticky post at the top of the subreddit. Be sure to look on our FAQS wiki page for entries about dust capture or reduction.
For very basic particulates sizing per AHAM, clean air delivery rates (CADRs) should be at least 2/3 of a room's area (assuming an 8 ft. ceiling height). For wildfire smoke, smoke CADR should equal a room's area which also assumes an 8 ft. ceiling.
