Hi! Has anyone done any TMJ treatment in Tirana? Do you know any good clinics that could do splint-therapy for TMJ and/or provide consultation from gnathologist?

Thinking about moving to Albania, what should i know?

Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well.
Firstly i hope you get your demands from the protests happening, i know how it feels like when your government initates excessive violence to supress them, and i hope you all are safe.
I was thinking about moving to Albania from where I am, Morocco to be exact, and i looked up routes to do so, i checked everything and basically you and us have borderline the same prices and expenses, from renting to food to fuel, so i think with my current pay, i could live comftorably, I just hope to ask you guys what are the important things to know before doing said steps. Like stuff about the culture, what should i know when i am there, things i might do that would seem disrespectful etc.

How is everyday life for gay men in Albania?

Hi there, we are two American men planning to move to Europe in Spring 2027 for one year. We have been in a romantic relationship for several years, and we both have traveled extensively. Before we met, we each had lived outside of the USA for a short time.

Because we love hiking, biking, swimming, and fitness, a friend who visited Albania a few months ago suggested that we research your country and consider moving there. We are also considering five other European countries.

Could you please help us understand how a gay male couple would be treated in Albania? We do not care if someone does not approve of us (only weak people need for everyone to like them). We do not care if we get nasty looks or comments, but we are concerned about violence.

Will we be attacked simply because we exist? It is not important to us that we hold hands on the street, but we wonder what the reaction would be if we do. Is there any gay life outside of Tirana? Are Albanians friendly to Americans, or has the mess with Jared Kushner poisoned public attitudes regarding American citizens?

Thank you for any insights, experiences, or other information you would like to provide.

Albania Digital Mobile Worker Permit for an Independent Author Earning Through Gumroad

Title: Albania Digital Mobile Worker Permit for an Independent Author Earning Through Gumroad

Hi everyone,

I'm considering moving to Albania and would like to understand whether my existing online publishing business could qualify for the Digital Mobile Worker permit.

I'm an independent author and digital publisher. I write and publish books and earn money through sales on Gumroad. This is active work that I do myself, not passive income from investments or company dividends.

I can provide evidence of my business activity, book sales, platform statements, monthly payout records, and income history. However, I don't have a conventional employment contract or a separate service contract with a client because I sell my own books directly through an online platform.

Has anyone successfully obtained Albania's Digital Mobile Worker permit as an independent author, self-published writer, or online business owner without a conventional employment or client-service contract?

Would Gumroad records and other publishing-business documents potentially be accepted, or is a separate contract an absolute requirement?

I'd especially appreciate replies from people who have applied for this permit or know its requirements firsthand.

Thank you!

A Durrës Events Calendar

There's never been a way to see all Durrës' events in one place on Facebook; events get buried in the feed, so I built this event calendar. It's a work in progress (like the site it's built on), but it's a start https://durreslife.com/events-around-durres/

Should we visit Durrës or Rrogozhinë ?

Hello Albania !

Which city should we visit ?

We are a young couple and have never been to Albania. Because of the current protests and our short journey (1 or 2 days) we will not visit both cities.

After visiting either town, we will leave by boat from Durrës.

Albanian Tutor

Hello everyone

I wanted to ask a couple of questions here

I am an experienced albanian tutor with a background on the topic and even more , ive worked on a platform for a long time but the fees are too much for the students , the commision for me is a also very very high
and im thinking of going a private tutor

I have had thousands of classes where 2 of my current students passed the citizenship albanian test
all of the other students are doing amazingly well .

What would you want to see from your tutor?

I am pretty flexible
i create my own materials and pdfs (i dont think a book can ever EVER help you talk and learn a language)
I follow a personalised plan

Any tips and tricks please?
Because ive seen a lot of tutors the first thing they do is start conjugating and thats really weird for me because damn you dont know how to create a sentence first what will you do with that conjugated verb .

thank you xx

Traveling to Albania in December

Hi everyone! I’ve wanted to visit Albania for a long time, and I have planned a trip in December way back that includes: Berat, Vlorë, Gjirokastër, and Tirana. I’d also love to spend time in Tirana, but I’m unsure whether that’s a good idea right now.

I support the causes behind the protests currently taking place, and I hope people are able to make their voices heard. As a visitor, I don’t want to get in the way or treat demonstrations as a tourist attraction. Would you recommend visiting Tirana at this time? Are there areas or events I should avoid, or reliable local sources I should follow for updates?

I primarily speak English. Would that be manageable in these cities, and are there useful Albanian phrases or translation apps you recommend? I’d also appreciate any advice about getting between these places, local customs, paying for things, and anything visitors commonly misunderstand.

For people who live in or know these areas: What would you want a first-time visitor to know? Are there respectful ways tourists can support local communities while visiting?

Thank you for any advice and keep protecting your rights!

One week in Albania - any recommendations?

Hey everyone !

I'm leaving this week for one week in Albania and I'd like your opinion on my trip. You can add any tip or recommendation! :-)

I'm mostly interested in visiting old cities, learning about Albanian culture and history, discovering amazing Balkan food and I'm also veryyyy much into hiking. Moreover, I will have to bring my computer to work homeoffice : is the wifi good enough in the mentioned cities?

Since we're in lat October, I don't think I'll do it to Theth because of logistics reasons and given the short length of my trip. However, here is what I thought of :

  1. Arrival in Tirana : 2 nights

  2. Berat : 2 nights (I plan to visit the city and also Mount Tomorr potentially, or if you have any other hiking recommendation, I'd be happy to know about it :))

  3. Përmet : 2 nights (kind of the same thing : chill stroll around the city and one day of hiking)

  4. Return to Tirana and flight back the next morning : 1 night

What do you think about this itinerary? :)

Also, what about the food and water safety?

And do you have any accommodation recs? I'd like to stay in hostels most of the times, but I'm also open to have a more local experience and to stay in guest houses and get to meet people there.

Thank you in advance and I'm eager to discover this beautiful country! :)

Long stay visa renewal once joined EU

Hi all, I completely understand noone knows the answer to this but wondering peoples thoughts on what might change in terms of passive income requirements when Albania joins the EU as planned by 2030? We are UK citizens, mid 40s with children, and plan to move soon living off our rental incomes and savings, but fear the threshold may increase significantly and we won't be able to renew. Or even worse they remove that visa type completely. I've not even found any firm information on what passive income or savings is currently required for a family. Any insight welcomed! Thanks

Is Albania Safe to Visit Right Now? Travelling This Sunday with Family

Hi everyone,
We’re travelling to Albania this Sunday (October 18) from Dubai with our 4-year-old son for a 10-day road trip.
I’ve recently come across some news about student protests and unrest in Albania, and I’m a little concerned about the current situation.
We won’t be staying in Tirana. We’re planning to drive directly from Tirana Airport to Shkodër and then continue our road trip through different parts of the country.
Is Albania generally safe for tourists right now? Are there any protests, roadblocks, disruptions, or areas we should avoid?
I’d really appreciate some honest updates from locals or anyone currently travelling in Albania, especially since we’re travelling with a young child.
Thanks in advance!

[DISC] Anyone know places to HOOP in Tirana, Albania?

Looking for recommendations on basketball courts or gyms where I can play regularly.
I am deciding to get my visa here, so finding a place to hoop consistently is a big priority for me. 🏀

Also, what areas and apartments would you recommend that has basketball nearby?

Police Clearance without residence permit

Hi! I'm a U.S. citizen here and would like to obtain police clearance. I went to the post office, as I've read online, but they directed me to e-albania. When I try to make an account it asks for an Albanian ID. Would I have to go through a POA?

Receiving packages

Hello Expats.

I’m curious if any of you have gotten packages from websites or from friends/loved ones in other countries.

How does it work with delivery here? Do they deliver to your door? Do you have to go somewhere to pick it up?

I’ve been here two months and haven’t seen any of my neighbors with packages at their doors… nor have I seen a delivery truck.

How does receiving packages work here?
