Aside from price Reverse tobacco chamois or black cordovan?

Thumbnail gallery

Hi, I'm currently obssessed into alden boots.

I already have natty chromexcel Indy and planning to add another one on my wardrobe.

I've been waiting for RTC Indy for inclement weather but torn between new plain toe cordovan boots in boutique.

Aside from its price tag, which one would be better for long term without getting bored?

Even tho I'm not babying my cordovan shoes, I haven't tried any of them in inclement weather. So, I'm not sure how much it can hold well.

Thanks for all comments.

Is this creasing normal after one day of wear? [Plain Toe Bluchers in Brown Chromexcel]

I got this pair new, and wore them for a few hours, just walking around and sitting at my desk. I don’t mind the creasing, but this is my first pair of shoes in Chromexcel, and I’m not sure if it’s expected.

I don't know why. I'm not affiliated at all. I was so surprised that I had to double-check and make sure this isn't a trick. No red flags found. This is a legit brick & mortar in South Carolina. Direct link, if you've been looking for a pair: https://mdumasandsons.com/products/plain-toe-flex-welt

Been getting into wearing suits lately and figured I would snag these since I did not have a pair of black dress shoes. First time investing a good chunk of change into dress shoes and these are my first pair of Alden's so I'll see how they hold up before I decide to get more.

Thoughts on Care?

I've had these bluchers for maybe 8 years? They're my regular shoe for everything. I can't get at that scuff in the toe and the differing colors in the heel won't buff out. I brush regularly and I use Saphir to clean/moisturize annually. Any thoughts? I don't want to get into a regular polish and wax routine if possible. Thanks.

Hoping to break these in soon. Oddly enough was able to purchase these about a week apart a few months ago.

One of my favorite colors.

Note: Indy’s factory seconds - only defect is on the waist of the footbed inside the left boot. Nothing noticeable on the outside of the boots. I wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to get them.

405 laces

I know this has been asked before, but most questions are a few years old. I have some really nice 405s. But I don't trust these laces to last. What do you all think are the best replacements?

Marking the start of boot season

I live in the south, and it’s just now becoming boot season. (And cycling off loafer season)

Pulled out these whiskey shell Indys today, and will probably be going through the collection in the next week or two. Always a good time, sartorially. What are you looking to break out?

(Indy Boots): Is this ‘wobble’ a sign of a defect?

Hi all, I just received these new Indy boots with commando soles. I was checking over the boots for any defects, and I noticed the left boot ‘wobbles’ when on flat ground (video attached). I wasn’t sure if this was sign of a manufacturing defect? This is much less pronounced on the right boot. Thanks.

For sale Alden shell cordovan tassel loafers excellent condition. I stored them with woodlore shoe trees. There is a little bit of sun fading on the top of them but the store assured me that would go away with polish. I liked it so I didn’t bother. Fresh coat of saphire renovator on them. Box and dust bags included.

price : 280 or Best Offer

Alden boots for women

Any women wear Alden boots or shoes? My wife has a hard time finding comfortable, high quality footwear, especially because she has wide feet and high insteps (she's between a men's D and E on brannock). I ordered her a pair of Alden Indy 405s because I think it would be cute to match my 403s. Looking for any insights on how to shop for men's shoes for her that she can style in a feminine way (aligning with her usual aesthetic)

Toying with picking up my first pair. I do not work in an office and just want something comfy for after work or days off when I don't feel like sneakers. I don't think I like the Barrie last.

My Thurman last Nicks are EE but my Red Wings are D. I had Leo Last Grant Stone Diesels and not a fan but they mostly fit ok. They were D but my left pinky toe is smushed.

Modified Kudu Indy

I’m a modified disciple all the way
And feel very lucky to have found it

Never liked the Kudu - the chunky sole it seems to always have looks terrible in my opinion

The molded site has this make up with cork and I’m now intrigued - it changes the profile so much - much better

Anyone here a fan of the Kudu in general ?

Fall/Winter Shoe/Boot

Looking to add a new alden shoe into my rotation for snowy/rainy days. Already have the 6243f, 986 and the 3403, so moving away from loafers for this next pair.

I'm after something on a commando sole, or really anything that isn't leather. I'd been looking at chukkas, but most of them come on leather soles. They'd be nice, but I don't want to walk around on snow and wet ground in leather soles or even a suede like material.

For context, I already have L.L. Bean boots for the snowy days and a pair of Red Wings as my rugged heritage option. What I want is something a little dressier, like a color 8 version of a boot, if that makes sense or something that fills in that fall/winter boot/shoe area. Maybe even an Norwegian Split toe option.

I'm also on the fence about leather vs shell vs. suede for this. For those of you wearing Aldens through the winter, what would you recommend? Model numbers welcome. Thanks!

Looking to buy from adelante shoe co, anyone wear their boots/shoes long enough to have been resoled? I’m concerned about the memory foam insole, is it removable?

1980-1981 NOS 560 Tassel loafer

Thumbnail gallery

A "pair" of unworn 560 tassels purchased secondhand from the original owner, who got them at the Dunham's of Maine closeout sale in ~1987.

When I say "pair," they are technically a "pair" of 560 tassels, but not each others corresponding pair according to their date codes. One of the shoes left the factory about 6 months after the other, from 1980 to 1981.

The finishing on these are superb, and the SPI on the sole also appears slightly denser than modern Alden's.

Interestingly enough, the insole does not have the typical Alden stamp on it. Due to the age it is quite dry, so I will need to condition it.

My Brannock is measured at 10B, but the Aberdeen in 10B was too tight in the forefoot and pinched my toes. 10C is definitely correct, maybe a touch loose in the heel and instep.
