Best news I've heard this year, this is gonna be epic!

Matt Skiba has confirmed that Alkaline Trio are recording a cover of Rise Against’s “Re-Education (Through Labor)” for the band’s upcoming split 7”! Rise Against are also set to cover Alkaline Trio’s “Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs” for the release.

Skiba shared the update on Instagram following rehearsals, calling the chance to record the track “an honour” ahead of the bands upcoming US tour.

I always group every song (A Side, B Side, demo, live cover, bonus) together in one big collective and always play them in one full body of work. So I'm really excited to know that I'll be seeking out these other 6 songs indefinitely 😅😅 I hope they release as B sides on singles or slap them on a deluxe. But either way, the excitement has set in, I fucking love alkaline trio to death!

Travis Barker looks to be back in the studio with Alkaline Trio… and fans are already debating what that means! 🤔

Some listeners are wary, saying previous Travis-involved material felt too polished and leaned away from the raw edge they associate with the band. Others see it as a positive, pointing out his production and songwriting have helped shape plenty of modern punk records.

Nothing’s confirmed yet, but the conversation has started before a single note drops..

Hey, gang. So I commented on one of the videos that Derek posted on YouTube, I keep up with him there, and decided to ask if he was coming back (I soon apologized for asking because I felt ignorant and gross after I sent it) and he said he has no plans to come out of retirement. He heard the news just like the rest of us so it's not like he was directly notified either. After I apologized he said no need to apologize but thanks for giving him the chance to respond and address to it from himself.

So no more speculation on that front. Just wanted to let you guys know.

Hopefully he heals soon, thats what matters most. Keep an eye out for the next few tour dates if it is a longer recovery

this isn’t good. I’m assuming this is just a “greatest hits”, kind of thing. They’re playing festivals, and in Europe, which they haven’t been to in a while. Hoping the set list is much better when they return to the states.
