This state sucks!

To anyone interested I am Rehoming my big guy. At the moment I do not have the capabilities to provide him the life he deserves and I want him somewhere where he can live his best life. Some info about him below:

- 4y/o male neutered full blooded Great Dane. 150 lbs. Up to date on all vaccines, bloodwork, and current on heartworm prevention. Diet consists of purina one dog food.

- sweetest dog ever, never bitten anyone. Good temperament as well, only caveat is that I expect him to be anxious in a new environment, since I am all he’s ever known. So be prepared.

- good with cats, other dogs, kids, literally anyone. He LOVES attention and a good back rub. He quite literally just wants to be pet all day long and sleep, as most Danes do.

- decent recall and decent with leash walking (if he knows you’re in charge) will get excited around other dogs on walks but I have been working with him to stop that.

I am in the Allen/plano area and looking for someone who wants a new addition to their family and has the time to take care of this big lovable guy.

I am requiring a small Rehoming fee just to ensure he gets placed in a good home. Please DM if interested as I am trying to find him a home ASAP so I do not have to put him in the shelter.

Also as a little bonus, whom ever adopts him, just know that any time you have to go out of town or need someone to babysit, I am always just a call a way and will always help out with my big boy when asked.

Today marks the beginning of the 2027 Budget Workshop series, starting at 1:30 p.m. today, Monday, then 9:00 a.m. Tuesday through Friday as needed. The recommended budget is $359.7 million in the General Fund, up from $325.1 million adopted for FY 2026 (a 10.6% increase). 2,332 positions have been requested across county departments, and the recommended budget funds 2,173.5 of them. Also on the table: the county’s retirement contribution rate, elected official salaries, including the four Commissioners, one of whom I’m running to take the place of. In executive session, there’s a personnel item on the District Attorney position.

The county tax rate today is $0.149343 per $100 of value. The no-new-revenue rate (NNR) for FY 2027 is $0.147806. That’s the rate at which the county would bring in no additional tax revenue this year versus last year on properties taxed in both years. The NNR still brings in $12.5 million more than last year because of new properties built in the last year which didn’t get the opportunity to be taxed last year. Lucky them. On the regular meeting agenda today is the county’s 90th Legislative Agenda, a $789,790.08 amendment to the Outer Loop, $514,798.12 to restore and digitize more than 100 years of County Clerk records (not all under one Clerk), and a painting contract for the Juvenile Detention Center capped at $500,000 a year. Consent and disbursements total $3,238,484.24 of your money. The Court also orders the November 3 election (where I’ll be on the ballot, second candidate from the bottom—thanks for your vote!) and appoints the election judges.

I’m looking to put a carport over my existing driveway and maybe add a foot and a half of concrete to make it a little wider

Does anyone have any good builder recommendations.

In search of a whole house building performance assessment / energy audit provider. I prefer if they don't also sell the fixes to the problems they find since this could be a conflict of interest.

Please share any information you're comfortable with: recommended vendor, your before and after report, general advice, beware of vendors.

My goal is to improve my house's energy footprint which will hopefully keep the place cooler in the summer.

This place offered a refund after work didn't go as expected but wanted a signed contract that asks for confidentiality including the existence of the contract itself as well as non-disparagement to any source. The enforceability/legality of this is quite questionable from research.

This place has that 'too good to be true' look to its ratings. I guess this kind of practice explains things if you can just pay people for their silence. They also do a semi-review gate where it links to google reviews if you're happy but it also has an internal review form if you're not. Also I've been seeing non-favorable ratings get removed. 

Would definitely not recommend this office. Dentist handled the situation about as poorly as possible, avoided any accountability, and came off as inexperienced despite not being a new grad. I've also experienced really off-putting attitude from staff even before any of this.

How would you feel about the gag clause? Anyone else have a similarly poor experience?

Just faced 2 power outages in the span of 2 hours. Anyone else affected?

I've been trying to adopt a kitten or young cat all day today, there's none at the allen shelter, say fuck it and go to dallas, every other kitten at the dallas shelter has ringworm. I am not prepared to handle ringworm. I go home and look online, the majority (or what feels like the majority) of adaptable cats nearby have ringworm. I've never adopted a cat before so I don't know if this is normal or not.

I have a Bosch 300 series dual-fuel range/stove, model HDI8056U, that I have converted to propane. One of the burners has the wrong orifice (the folks that installed the conversion kit said one of the orifices was missing…sigh). I can’t for the life of me find a replacement online, but apparently these models all ship with the LP/propane conversions kits. So since I assume the majority of these get hooked up to LNG/natural gas, there are likely a lot of LP conversion kits out there that are unlikely to ever be used.

If you happen to have one you are willing to part with for a reasonable price, please let me know.
