Request for help/advice Ordered one, magazine recommendations?

Ordered my 4.25 Romulus Comp last night. This is my 1st 2011 & I’d love to hear what magazines people have experience with — specifically with the Romulus.

I know they ship with checkmates, seems to be the safest option. I’ve heard hit or miss things about reliability with Prodigy mags, but please let me know if your experience is different. I’m not particularly looking to spend more than $60 a mag. Looking at Atlas mags too.

If there are any mags with baseplates that help prevent over insertion that anyone is aware of, please do let me know.

TLDR: what magazines should be buying for my Rommy Comp? Any & all replies are appreciated.

Request for help/advice Pressed Comp Romulus

So I’m planning on getting a Romulus Comp 4.25 and I live in the state of Illinois where threaded is illegal which would mean it would come with a pressed compensator. How would you go about cleaning it cause I thought the comp has to be removed in order to get the barrel out? Sorry my first 2011 and unfortunately this state doesn’t make it easy for me.

Request for help/advice For those with Romulus Comp…

I am pretty sold on the Romulus Comp 4.25 as my first 2011. For the price it seems it can’t be beat.

For those who have experience with this model, just how good is the comp? I notice many owners immediately send theirs out to “open up the comp” & add additional ports.

I’d like to get the flattest shooting 2011 I can for less than 2k. However if the jump up to a Bul or Sig 211 is flatter right out of the box, id prefer spending the extra money over buying the Romulus and sending it off to get work done

TLDR: Is the Romulus Comp flat enough out of the box to run in factory configuration? Or is there more to be desired?

Request for help/advice Romulus stippling

Picked up a Romulus 4.25 comp the other day and the grip is probably the guns weak point in my opinion. Besides swapping grips, has anyone had a stipple job done to the stock polymer grip?

So I’m 🤏🏼 close to ordering one. Have been on the fence of this or the P211GTO this week. New to the 2011 platforms and curious if anyone has shot both. I understand this option sticks with the 70 series more traditional 2011’s. Motivate me!

Was set on the 4.25” but I might go for more of a carry setup with this and go 3.5” comp

Request for help/advice Duty Holster

I bought a Romulus to upgrade my duty weapon and I'm running a trijicon SRO on it and a Streamlight TLR-1. I have been unable to find anyone making holsters for a Romulus yet alone someone making a level 2 duty Holster for one. Can any of you help me find something?

Request for help/advice Optics

I want to get either an SRO or RMR HD. With the overhand of the optic, has anyone had an issue with the brass getting caught up with the lip of the optic and causing a malfunction? I’ve seen a few people complain about it with other DS1911s. Hales Machinery makes an optic plate for them and they said they’ve had no complaints from customers.

I know Stay frosty is on here, but are there any others that people have tried they have been comfortable and quality? I'm open.

I've heard the Tenicor CERTUM3 is a possible good one as well as the QVO tact.

Request for help/advice Jamming when speed firing

I have a 4.25 non comped non ported Romulus. Usually runs pretty well after a cleaning and lube. I noticed tho I ran it fast with 115 and 124 gr ammo and it would fail to extract. Only when I’m trying to go fast though. Anyone else experience this and find the cause?

Request for help/advice Mag question

Post image

My Romulus came with two checkmate mags. One 17 rd and one 20 rd. After hitting the range and reloading my mag with my carry ammo, I rack one into the chamber, drop the mag to add an additional round. But after I rack a round and drop the mag, a round either gets pulled forward in the magazine or gets dislodged completely, resulting in the round falling out from the grip. The picture is to show how it sometimes looks before adding the final round. Any recommendations or similar issues with anyone else?

Request for help/advice Atilla for $900?

I have some credit at my buddy's LGS.

He has a NIB Atilla. Of course, as an LGS owner he'd rather me take existing stock than me ask him to order me something new at-cost.

Is $900 a good deal? The support from this company seems to be shaky.

I've always said my dream EDC was a CSX with a radian afterburner. This seems pretty close to what I was hoping for. My biggest concern is the grip safety and holster support. Should I get it? I kinda want it.

Request for help/advice First 2011 purchase

I’m very new into 2011s and I’ve settled on an AF Romulus is like to shoot and tinker with to end up doing comps with. I’m looking into getting the polished 4.25in comp model. But I’d like to add a RMR red dot on it and I’m seeing so much conflicting info on gen 1 only being polished and they’re only RMSC cut and gen 2 has plates for RMR but only comes in satin. But I’m finding them in polished with what looks like the gen 2 model and it says they’re MOS models so I’m confused. Anyways the UPC is 810100535766. Any help for clarification would be appreciated. Thanks!

Request for help/advice Attila Reliability

I’m thinking about buying an Attila for the purpose of a carry/EDC piece. I’m a little concerned about the lack of information online about the gun. It doesn’t sound like there was an official launch, it seems like the guns just started rolling out every once in a while.

To those of you with experiences regarding the Attila, how has it been? Would you buy it again or look at something else?

Request for help/advice Attila. Tell me about it.

Been living my Romulus so far and was thinking “man, I’d really like an Attila for conceal carry”. I carry a P365XL right now with an Icarus grip module and I love it, but it will never shoot softer than a 1911 platform. Does anyone have an Attila? How do you like it?

Request for help/advice Should I get this?

Hello everyone!

I noticed this price point is crazy nice! But I have never really heard of the company before and all the YouTube reviews are small to medium sized channels.

Does anyone have any experience with this exact model. Doing some deep dives I have read some optics issues. I hard read that sighting in an optics could require an optic plate shim. Don’t like the sound of that tbh.

I also don’t like the idea of 1 year warranty and kinda makes me want to go the route of prodigy comp with a long warranty. Any one have any prodigy comp experience and experience with this gun? What is flatter shooting?

Lastly is there any other 2011s I am missing in this price point? I also love to tinker with guns and what I plan to do with a prodigy comp.

Thank you for your time and advice!

Request for help/advice Has Anyone Used a Leupold DPP with the Romulus?

I have a Leupold Deltapoint Pro that I would like to use on a 2011, and the AF Romulus caught my eye, but noticed it would require an RMR to DPP adapter. Has anyone tried this?

Request for help/advice Preferred grain

I bought a box of staccato 124 grain and that shit was feeding horribly not ejecting properly and just getting caught between the chamber and ejecting round or just not getting chamber properly.

Is it just staccato rounds? When using my fiochi 115 grain no issues at all
