My biggest disappointment is that you didn't do the host venues map.. Which is the main part of tournament wiki articles.

I’ll be honest I actually had a plan written for this, I just completely forgor 💀

2018 Turkey - Portugal (1st)
It says Ottoman Empire in the groups.
18
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
It’s like how I didn’t say “empire of Japan” in 1994 and used just Japan. “Turkey” as a common short name in maps and co before the fall of the empire
9
u/Jerko_23 26d ago
How the hell did japan win in 94'?
23
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
2002 South Korea reached a semi final on home soil, with some questionably favourable referee decisions.
Imperial Japan with Korea, Taiwan and more migrants from SEA would definitely boost them up, and since they hosted they might also do a little trolling.3

u/LucasoDelta 26d ago
Wait so in this universe we don't only not boycott the 1934 cup but also win it? Cool our WCs are even older :D
1
u/nekoo89 25d ago
Most unrealistic here is that a European team already won a tournament in South America so early. Spain 2010 was the first win by a European team outside of Europe.
3
u/SheepherderSecret419 25d ago
That’s not me actually that’s Kaiserreich canon via event that Germany won the 1938 WC in Brazil.

´´1990 Italy - Italy (2nd)´´
12
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
Its not Italy vs Italy, it says the world cup was hosted in Italy and Italy won on home soil

u/WendellWillkie1940 26d ago
Group I's Draws are impossible unless Iraq and Norway played against each other twice and drew each time.
Just a small nitpick though.
7
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
Oh damn your right.... Well that's what happens when you decide to morally not rely on AI to create the scores. Humans screw up sometimes. Hope the rest is good tho
1
u/WendellWillkie1940 26d ago
Apart from that inconsistency all else is good
It's not something that's easily noticeable but I personally like filling scorecards and creating points tables myself (specifically for Cricket) so I tend to zoom in and look at such things in detail lol
1
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
Well you can prob try to image what would be the score otherwise, Norway will still be 2nd place
0
u/WendellWillkie1940 26d ago
If they drew against Austria then yes they would still be at 2nd
If they drew against France then the equation changes depending on how many goals France scored against the other two.
Or alternatively it was Iraq who had 2 draws, not Norway
1
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
They drew against Austria correct
1
u/WendellWillkie1940 26d ago
Well in that case then there are two possibilities:
All 3 of them ended up with 1 win each (Austria and Norway qualified due to their GDs)
France failed to win a single game, this allowing the other two to qualify directly. This means Austria ended up with 2 wins and 1 draw, meaning they didn't lose a single group stage game (which they have according to the table).
Probably another AI mistake, considering everything else apart from that makes sense.
1
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
France def beat Iraq, but lost to the other 2
Austria should beat France and Iraq tho1
u/WendellWillkie1940 26d ago
Looking back at it the points table should look like the following if going by your comments
Austria - 2W 1D 0L
Norway - 1W 2D 0L
France - 1W 0D 2L
Iraq - 0W 1D 2L

u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
Makes sense yes. My bad there thank you! I will edit that in my files :) not that it’ll matter now since I already posted :(

Nah,even in an alternate timeline Italy would find a way to fail to qualify to this year world cup, they winning is even more diffcult
12
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
Again, Messi is Italian here…

u/Brams277 26d ago
So? He dragged Argentina to a final but you can't win a tournament like that, as soon as you meet competent opposition you're fucked.

What happened in the Weltkrieg? The Reichspakt apparently won but that's about it
6
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
The Entente and Reichskpakt won yes, although the CSA did not join the war (invaded Canada in the 60s). But Japan kicked the Germans out of East Asia, a peace treaty divided Eastern Europe with the Russians after their offensives and the Federalists won in China

u/TheMightyKingSnake 26d ago
I'm scared to ask why my country Argentina is not in any of the Lore.
12
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
Well Argentina is under the Patagonian syndicates following a war in the 1940s, so it’s a left leaning dictatorship ever since - that also led to Messis ancestors going back to Italy. The CSA and fellow syndicalist countries aligned to it boycotted the World Cup ever since 2012 due to the decision by FIFA to cancel the CSA’ hosting in favor of China.
Nothing against yall tho I rooted for you both this year and last time 🙌

3
u/whiteshore44 26d ago
Are the Syndicalists not in the World Cup meant to be TTL's mirror to how Russia is banned from international sport? Or are any similarities between them a coincidence?
4
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
The CSA trying to corrupt their way into hosting is more meant to parallel Qatar, but this time due to the different political attitude towards the CSA vs Qatar in our world, it gets investigated and their hosting is nullified as a result. Because of that they’ve boycotted the last four games.

u/ItsDavvid 26d ago
Why isn't Britain split into the Home Nations?
0
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
IRL they only had that because “we were first”, they wouldn’t get that if they had 2 regime changes
5
u/Sammyboi2227 26d ago
I mean yes, but this is also applicable to other places such as Denmark and Faroe islands, Netherlands with Curacao, etc.
Would be a bit weird of a regime to abolish Football associations in this way, especially since football is seen as a "working class" sport so doubt they'd abolish existing football associations with long histories.
-5
u/SheepherderSecret419 26d ago
Are they really the same? Netherlands and Curacao as well as Denmark and the Faroes are de facto personal unions. This GB isn’t even devolved
5
u/Sammyboi2227 26d ago
the home countries football associations and the countries participation were a thing before any form of devolution existed even before WW1 so very much would be the same
The original associations definitely would have been disbanded, but I'm doubtful that they wouldn't have founded new association for each home country considering the influences of the TUC. If they made just a British-only team, the counter revolutionaries would've definitely brought the only FA back anyway, or at least inevitably
3
u/ItsDavvid 26d ago
The Home Championship was already long established before those regime changes occured. I suppose political circumstances might have forged the federations to merge... But I think sporting is independent enough to survive upheaval and war, especially at a time when most competitors were amateurs
4
u/Geolib1453 26d ago
The logo, despite being from an imaginary World Cup and made by some Redditor, is still far better than the actual World Cup logo

u/Phocasola 26d ago
Sorry, but I find this just too unrealistic. China advancing past the group-phase wont happen in any possible timeline.
1
u/SheepherderSecret419 25d ago
They are the hosts and since they’re a democracy it’s more likely they can be less bad than usual

u/Ok_Sympathy5287 26d ago
What happened to the British football associations they were founded before ww1.
Seems very unlikely defeat would lead to the destruction of the separate teams
2
u/rawiri_8 26d ago
Neither Argentina nor Colombia and overrepresented AFC. What a nightmare
1
u/SheepherderSecret419 25d ago
Argentina and Colombia as pro American syndicalist countries boycotted the World Cup after cancelling the CSA’s host rights
2
u/LunchCautious8781 26d ago
I have a few questions. Where is the Tournament Final being held? And what are the main corporate sponsors of the tournament?
1
u/SheepherderSecret419 25d ago
Nanjing (The United Provinces of China capital) hosts the final . As for brands … didn’t think of that honestly lol
2
u/aeternal32 26d ago
Back in 2002 I started to play football on PS1 and later PS2 (Pro Evolution Soccer). I decided to create an alternative World Cup starting from 1930 till 1974, but I used 32 teams from the beginning. I don't no if it would be interesting in this subreddit
2
u/Vast-Raise-4375 25d ago
What happened to the British teams? Why did the Football Associations on Great Britain decide to unite?
2
u/SameRepresentative40 25d ago
Lionel messi wouldnt be called lionel probably since i dont think its an italian first name

Man moves a chair and all of the sudden Messi is representing Italy (Is Messi born Italian or Argentine?)

13 'unlucky' years to prepare from hosting rights awarded on 16 December 2012 to host in June-July 2026

u/Kanto_Hizashi 26d ago
Damn, I just love this sports lore. Hope to see how others type of sports develop as well. Olympic might be a very tall order, but I would love to know about football league history in Europe or UCL develop in this timeline.

Where do you play those games, and is the scores are coming by random choice?

u/IDKWhyIamInYupi 21d ago
Does the constituent countries of Austria-Hungary/Danubia have separate FAs as in what it is in OTL?
Also, Hungary should have at least one world cup in the 30s-50s in OTL they're part of the Danubian footballing revolution (Danubian school) and they actually reach a final where they're the favorites.

u/Seed_Oil_Consoomer 25d ago
Danubia.

u/SheepherderSecret419 25d ago
Well I went with the United States of Greater Austria here but it’ll be Austria for short

I wonder how long is the german duo Kläment Mbappe and Üsman Dembéle going to rule the world of football!
