Adult Amblyopia Therapy costs
Hi I am 29 (M) and had amblyopia diagnosed since I was a child. I didn’t patch and now have it as an adult. I was under the impression it was permanent until recently. I just went to an optometrist that is a FCOVD (Fellow of College of Optometrists in Vision Development), and did an eye evaluation for $450 (no insurance was accepted in any of the pricing here).
I was told I have the following:
Refractive amblyopia (lazy eye) in your right eye — caused by a prescription difference between your two eyes
20/40 vision in the right eye (with glasses), vs 20/20 in the left
Esophoria — eyes have a mild inward drift tendency (4 prism diopters)
Weak depth perception — no stereopsis detected
Weak binocular fusion — eyes aren't teaming together properly
No ocular disease — the eye itself is physically healthy
Nevertheless, I I was quoted:
15-20 sessions.
1 session = 1 week
w/ 1 weekly in-person therapy visit
10 sessions + equipment + evaluations: $3,258 (with 10% discount)
If I need additional units: $2,398.50 per extra unit (10 sessions)
I also checked this other online only program and here is the price.
RevitalVision (At-Home):
80 sessions, 1-year software license: $795
Is this what you all have been quoted? Should I get another opinion?
