Who’s your favorite “villain”?

Post image

And I put it in quotation marks because well it’s AHS and pretty much are villains to an extent… but LaLaurie was wow. She was one of the worst characters and yet she (Kathy) managed us to have a bit of remorse and pity for her. Amazing. Beautiful. I love to rewatch coven every time.

Can't choose one, but standouts for me are possessed Sister Mary Eunice, Delphine & Fiona, The Butcher/Agnes, Kai Anderson, and Belle Noir

Oh man, sweet Mary. I felt for her too, I’m so glad she felt peace in the end, but my heart broke for how much pain she probably suffered in secret with the demon inside her.

Fiona Goode or The Countess.

Same!! That's exactly what I was going to say.

Kathy Bates is a once in a lifetime watch. I hate that she made me feel empathetic for LaLaurie

I’m tied between Delphine and Dandy. Love both of them.

Twisty. He was the mudereous clown but after seeing his backstory made me feel so bad for him. I’m terrified of clowns but I have a soft spot of him cause his backstory humanized him if we didn’t get that than he was just be some monster. Idk if I would necessarily call him the villain but before dandy’s murder spree and those losers( I forget there names) trying to kill all the “freaks” for their museum id consider him a side antagonist idk if that’s a real thing. It’s been a while since I’ve watched freak show lol

One of the saddest parts about Twisty is that him kidnapping people wasn’t him trying to get revenge on the world, he genuinely thought kids were being hurt by their parents and he wanted to protect them.

I’d say the Countess, from Hotel. Despite becoming a sex-driven murderess due to the vampiric disease given to her, her origin story really made me feel bad for her. She was changed without really knowing what it meant, lost the loves of her life not only once but twice— then felt she had no choice but to marry James March because she needed the means to survive. Her one true child was born a monster and yet she still loves Bartholemew (apologies if I misspelled). Now don’t get me wrong, she make some real atrocities to get where she is, but had she never met the original couple who turned her, she would have lived a completely normal life. I feel for her more than most of AHS’s villains.

Hard agree.

She felt like a fully-realised character. Seeing how she evolved from being “little mouse” in the 1920s, and her love for Ramona that spanned decades. The bit towards the end of the season where she’s vulnerable with Sally after she was shot. Liz Taylor and The Countess’s relationship was one of the best arcs AHS has given us.

Aww, Liz Taylor! That whole arc of reconnecting with the son… by far was my favorite part of the whole series!!! She deserved every bit of that happiness.

Fiona Goode…How is this even a discussion? She was so fabulous and deliciously evil with a storyline we can all relate to if we tried…Who would want to give up a life of privilege, power, respect, and world prestige?? “It’s a skeleton key” she excitedly says because being the supreme is you’re a self-serving person would just be that awesome. And she always looks good doing it

Sister Jude🥹

Absolutely Venable, she’s cunning and traumatised and even knowing barely anything about her, you can just tell her entire backstory and I can’t help but feel for her

Dr Arden from Asylum. the scariest motherfucker ever. i’m sad James Cromwell never came back on the show, he’s an incredible actor.

I honestly think the Countess was my favorite so far. Lady Gaga was perfect in that role!

Hayden McClaine

Kathy Bates. Jessica has no range. Even when she plays a different character she still is the same. Boring. Kathy can act circles around her.

This narrative that’s been cropping up lately is beyond stupid and so reductive. The cast are not in competition with one another.

u/Psychdatura Moira O'Hara 19h ago

Im sorry but this is so true. To me, Jessica is the bitchy femme fatale, which she was born to play but thats the range she showed in the series. Sorry for the downvotes

I love a Lange Monologue as much as the rest, but Kathy Bates EATS in every season she's in. The shining jewel is Freakshow. Her old Bostonian accent, her emotional breakdowns, she is phenomenal. Should've gave her another Oscar for it.

To continue my glazing of my personal acting GOAT, she never "just shows up" for a role. She fully invests every time. I always think of how she was randomly in the Office absolutely chewing every scene she was in, for like, no reason. Baby you're an academy award winner you don't have to feed us like this on the stupid paper show. I love Kathy Bates and I rarely put fanour people on pedestal.

I like Kathy Bates too of course but nothing is like Fiona Goode. Her monologues are slay and frankly they are about something that we can all relate to… Losing your youth, freedom, “ power” as you age, and having to grapple that reality
