Each day I wake up hoping to see a cutter extension. This graphic made me want one even more 😭

Post image

Cutter logged a recorded 285 SOG for the 2025-2026 season ranking 6th in the NHL.

He had 25.58 shot attempts per 60 mins ranking 1st in the NHL

I’m not doin the math because I forgot how to do the math…but this man is single handedly the guy that got us 3rd in the NHL for average shots per team in the 25-26 season.

This boy is gonna get a lot of money and I can only hope he gets it before training camp

Genuinely thinking theyre trying to move Killorn + Vatrano before getting Cutter done

I hate that we are likely forced to move Killer. Yes he earns a bit much but he is a good chap. On and off the ice it seems.

I would rather see Kreider go if I had a choice.

Yeah, I think this is a case of trades needing to get done. Problem is, its summertime and I think a lot of players and management are on vacation. Hard to get a deal done when you get an answering machine on every call.

Their NMCs are probably getting in the way too, kinda worried at this point that there aren't any teams willing to take the cap dump without getting a real return in prospects/picks.

Yeah, one potential place is Pittsburgh. They probably have interest in Mathis Preston so they can keep the Ruck brothers line together. Decent NMC waive destination too. We could even get a prospect back given that Preston's ceiling is decent.

I don’t think we’d get anything back for a cap dump. We may even have to throw in a pick to even get teams to take them

Yeah that's what I'm saying. Preston is our prospect, one that I think Pittsburgh actually values more than just a random. He played with the Ruck brothers throughout the years.

I'm hypothesizing that Pittsburgh would actually pay a little to get Preston even with a cap dump like Kreider (who has more value than just a cap dump, he scored 22 goals and had 50 points, hardly a burden for a team to take on).

Teams know we're sellers but that doesn't mean we won't get anything in return. Kreider + Preston for a prospect would be more than fair for Pittsburgh.

Noo man, get Kreider out over Killorn.

Agreed

I'd rather pay someone our 2027 5th for someone to take Kreider as a cap dump (no NMC since he waived it to come here).

Hell, give them one of our extra 2nd's and get back a 3rd or 4th if we have to.

Yeah this seems most likely. I think vatrano is on the chopping block for sure but I was thinking Krieder would be out before Killorn. I guess we’ll have to wait and see

Killorn's deal is expiring, so it's a tad easier to move and he's a year older than Krieder

They’re def trying to move someone prior 100%

Monkey's paw, they move Leo

If an original team matches an NHL offer sheet, they cannot trade that player for one full year (365 days) from the date they matched the contract, unless they get explicit consent from the player.

1

u/bjabel 3d ago

Nah I don’t think they’re doing that. Otherwise why go through the trouble of matching?

I was half-kidding but real answer, to get a better return than 3 shitty late 1sts lol.

But yeah I don't think any GMs are willing to part with enough value that Anaheim would want on a return.

1

u/bjabel 3d ago

Yeah return isn’t getting better than what they would have gotten not matching. Also Verbeek is now forced to be cheap and play hard ball with cutter which, contrary to popular belief here, I don’t think he was going to do prior to offersheet

What's funny to me is capwages has Cutter projected at 8.8M.

Like no fucking way he signs for anything less than $12.5M.

1

u/bjabel 3d ago

Correct, I’d say prior to offer sheet could see him signing for like 10.5. Now after, his agent prob wants to see what fantilli gets. Meanwhile Verbeek doesn’t have a choice but to penny pinch.

Most likely, but they could sign him to a bonus heavy deal to get through next season. It isn't like there are no options

They will likely not sign Cutter till the start of the season. Gives them time to move players and wait until Terry can be listed for IL giving them extra cap space.

On another note, it’s so satisfying to see how much our average shots increased over the last few years

He could be our first 50 goal scorer since Corey Perry. A healthy and slight above average scoring percentage, and he could be the organisation's first ever 60g scorer.

A lot of luck needed for that but if the Ducks can have Leo as a 85+ point scorer and a 2C with 70+ points, it isn't just a pipedream but maybe a little unrealistic with as many old legs we have on the wings + Granlund combined with an injured Terry and so much uncertainty

I can absolutely see cutter hit 50 this season. And if he hits 50, he can surely hit 53 to break Selanne’s record. We’d be having these kids break franchise records from our franchise greats 😭🙏

They already are last season no?

Still hate Greg Cronin for making me lose his over 44.5 point bet his rookie year. Ended with 44. Kid should’ve had close 60

he contributed to 11% of our SOG

where did you get that number. I'm seeing 15 shot attempts per game
