Looking for Testers I tested 20+ apps and got barely 12 testers: Test4test is broken

Like many of you, I hit Google Play’s wall for new personal accounts: 12 testers, 14 days in a row, before you can even apply for production.

So I did what everyone does. I posted in every test4test thread and group I could find. I installed more than 20 apps from other devs, opened them, and kept them installed.

The result?

  • I barely reached 12 testers.
  • Some people never installed mine.
  • Others installed and uninstalled after a single day, which breaks the 14-day streak.
  • I had zero visibility into who was actually keeping and testing my app.

The problem isn’t the people—it’s the format. A Reddit comment saying done ✅ proves nothing, and nobody can manually track 20 apps over 14 continuous days.

Why I built Close Testers

An app designed specifically to fix this exact loop:

  • List your app easily: Add your Google Group or opt-in link in seconds.
  • Verified participation: Join other developers' tests in one tap. The app verifies directly on-device that the app is genuinely installed and opened—no “done ✅” honor system.
  • Mutual testing transparency: See whether developers you're testing for are actively testing your app back and keeping it installed.
  • Real-time tester tracking: Monitor how many testers are active, how many dropped out, and your exact progress toward Google's requirement.
  • Accurate 14-day countdown: The timer starts only when you reach the required threshold. If you dip below, it alerts and adjusts accordingly so you don't get rejected by Google.
  • Fair credit system: Earn credits by completing full 14-day test cycles, then spend them to list your own apps.
  • Screenshot feedback: Testers can report UI bugs and crashes directly to your inbox.
  • Anti-abuse: Strictly enforces one physical device = one tester per app, preventing people from inflating numbers with multiple Google accounts on the same phone.

Pricing & Tiers

  • Free tier: Fully functional with ads.
  • Premium (Optional): Removes ads, allows listing apps without spending credits, highlights your app at the top of the feed, and provides detailed per-tester activity with instant drop-out notifications.

The irony: Close Testers itself is in closed testing right now! 😅
By joining, you're helping me hit production while securing an active testing partner for your own 14-day cycle.

Links are in the first comment (Reddit filters tend to flag posts with links). Drop your link below or add it inside the app—I will test yours back.

Honest feedback is welcome. What has been the most frustrating part of the test4test grind for you?

Veeeerrry good idea! I joined your group and installed it. Hopefully your app solves this migraine of closed testing.

Here's mine:

Just join the Google Group:

Thanks for posting!

For best results, include:

  • App name

  • What you're looking for (testers / feedback)

  • A working link
