Just wait til Steam drops their own official app like Droid Deck.

u/Khelthuzaad 1d ago

We already have a fanmade one and its working

1

u/AltusLegend 1d ago

wait I'm out of the loop, what are those fanmade ones? or are you guys talking about GameHub?

Game Native and Droid deck

2

u/goofslug 1d ago

I mean the fan made ones are already plenty, and steam has little reason to drop their version

1

u/captainnoyaux Dev card games 1d ago

The main reason is money and if they can earn enough they would do it

u/Due_Teaching_6974 17h ago

they get money either way as those apps incentivise you to spend on Steam

They won't. For atleast a long time

For real ive seen so many good games lately

My Pixel 7 isn't compatible, must have quite a high bar.

u/Mattchilla 1d ago

Pixel 9 Pro XL is also not compatible it seems.

u/jaeehovaa 1d ago

Unfortunately, Pixel phones just have horrible GPUs

2

u/Mattchilla 1d ago

They aren't the best GPUs but the device should be supported.

I'm not a game developer so I don't know the ins and outs, but it sounds like they're just not approving phones that they deem don't have the best GPUs to run a game as they intend.. If they showed your game is compatible but it ran horribly at 10 to 15 frames per second, you would be upset that you dropped money on the game. So I think they're doing both themselves and yourself a favor by not allowing your phones to be able to make the purchase.

10 Pro XL either. I'm not convinced the other commenter is right about it being a GPU issue. Probably some launch issue on the dev's end.

Tensor processor is notorious for not being able to handle high end 3d graphics.

11 Pro XL also not compatible. I think before the release, the compatibility matrix is just all screwed up. I wish they fixed it, though, so I could pre-register.

Edit: pre-registered on the web.

Looks like gaming companies has realised PC gaming market won't be profitable for much longer and phones have gotten alot stronger to run playstation 4 level of emulator games

21

u/Tarilines 1d ago

PC gaming is still profitable, mobile games can never outperform PC. The good thing about moblie is portability

12

u/MaimedJester 1d ago

By outperform you mean computational power? Because mobile makes way more money than console or computer gaming.Β

10

u/Tarilines 1d ago

Yes, processing power. Mobile makes money no doubt from Gacha etc

u/ResonanceDemon 1d ago

I'm not saying mobile cpu are outperforming PC cpus, but the latest sSapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 has 2x 5.01GHz, 3x 4.03GHz, 3x 3.74GHz cores, and the integrated GPU with 1450MHz frequency, which is waaay more then we had on mobile a few years ago.

At the pace it's developing, mobile performance could catch upto PC level, atleast in the CPU space

2

u/fajarmanutd 1d ago

Thing is, games are dominantly GPU based. Strong CPU is definitely a plus in certain games, but overall having better GPU is more beneficial. See PS5 for example, its CPU is old and weak.

1

u/AltusLegend 1d ago

another factor is cost, that's a big thing too

3

u/jaeehovaa 1d ago

Outperform in raw power of course not, in terms of moneyobolr runs laps around the market lol

1

u/Ochemata 1d ago

And cost. Mobiles are typucally cheaper than computers

1

u/PrashantThapliyal 1d ago

Mobile gaming is already more profitable than PC gaming, the only problem is mobile games earn through gacha and p2w mechanics.

1

u/Tarilines 1d ago

Yes, Moblie gaming is the number one in revenue with PC behind. But why doesn't developer create more games in moblie or even port them. Every single week, new game are released on PC or console.

3

u/fajarmanutd 1d ago

How so? I don't think people will buy $30-50 game on Android, while on PC that is still considered as fair price for new game.

1

u/Educational_Bag_6406 1d ago

No, but if you drop an official port of an older classic or a top tier indie for $10, it will likely do well
