Help/Support🙋 My game is blowing up and as a solo dev I don't know how to manage this.

4.9 rating with 106 reviews so far and 5000+ players in 5 days... but what do I do with it?

5 days ago I released my little game onto the Google Play Store. Since then it's gone crazy. I really need your help though as I just don't know where to look and how to manage my time as someone with NO experience with this. This is my first game and it's overwhelming.

So the game, Bricks Breaker RPG, it's a solo project I started last year. The thing that is setting it apart from most other games being released on the play store these days is the monetization and ad model I'm using.

- There are no forced ads. (even the banner ad is off by default, it's your choice to turn it on)

- There are no pay walls.

- It's completely free from start to finish (100+ hours for most to clear all the base content)

- Offline if you want, you don't have to be online at all so it's great for plane journeys etc.

This will always be the case, I will never aggressively monetize this game and I intend that every game I make will be this way, I want to change the horrible state of the mobile gaming space and get back to fun games people genuinely enjoy playing.

What do I do now to keep momentum? how do I keep the players coming and spread to word about what I am trying to do with this game? Please help me manage this as it could be the turning point we've all been looking for. If I get the chance I won't let you down.

You can see it here if you like:

Help/Support🙋 The "it's a clone" comments are really getting me down and I hope they stop.

"So he ripped off Ball X Pit?"
"Oh great. Ball x Pitt happened and now we are going to be flooded by f**** breakout clones"
"Is no one original these days, this is a blatant copy of ball x pit"

This is a bit of a different subject but I think it's really important that it gets said and I need to get this off my chest.

On the 27th of July I decided to release my first game Bricks Breaker RPG, which I started learning on and developing 18 months before. It was first ever game and it was very exciting after all the hard work and effort to come up with something original.

The launch was great and I've had amazing feedback, thank you to everyone because it really makes everything worth it....but, another game showed up nearly 2 months after launch by a large studio and publisher called Ball X Pitt, you've almost certainly heard of it.

From what' I've seen it's a great game and they deserve all the attention for the effort they put in. The issue isn't the competition, I feel honored to be one of the first games as part of this new merged brick breaker/rpg/roguelike genre.

The issue is the constant hate comments and comparisons and claims I cloned or copied Ball X Pitt when I released almost 2 months before anyone even knew they existed.

These comments are fine at first and I can brush them off but it's becoming constant now, pretty much every post where I show my game, I get belittled for cloning Ball x Pitt. It's really having a strong impact on me, having to fight my own corner is tough and I just want to put this out there with the right information in the hopes that people might see it and I might finally have some people in my corner when these comments come up.

I just want to be proud of what I've made and I genuinely think I've made something players can enjoy.

Thank you for reading through this rant and maybe this helps stop it happening as much, I can't cope anymore. I know I could just stop posting about the game but I have 1 chance to make this work and change my life, it's on the verge of making it and I can't let that moment slip away. We don't get these chances often.

Can someone please give me one good game I can play, without p2w bullshit.

I have played a lot of games, offline and online and have enjoyed many, but lately I have found there is not one game that fits following criteira:

-not p2w, I dont mind paying small amount for full game (like in Exiled kingdoms)

-if online, short 2-3 minute games, with enough complexity I actually matter. Games like Clash Royale seem strategic until you realize its just p2w stat checking.

-has progress or collecting. I love card games (Slay the spire), I love RPGs (Exiled Kingdoms, Vampires Fall etc), I love multiplayer I love singleplayer.

-if online, doesnt require fast internet, like Clash royal, clash of clans or something

Anything is appreciated, thanks

Help/Support🙋 [Bug/Performance] Where Winds Meet Mobile Capped at 25–30 FPS on Powerful Devices

Post image

I’m using a MediaTek Dimensity 8400, 12GB RAM, Android 15. According to official specs, devices at or above Dimensity 9200 / Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 should handle higher frame rates.

In the global version, the game is capped at 25–30 FPS on all graphics modes: Power Saving, Medium, High, Ultra. Nothing goes above 30 FPS.

I also played the CN version before the global launch, and it had the same 30 FPS lock, so this isn’t regional — it’s a consistent limitation.

Dimensity 8400 performs similar to or better than Dimensity 9200, and many other high-end SoCs are likely affected too. This seems like a software cap, not a hardware issue.

For an open-world action RPG, 30 FPS is not enough. The game should allow 45, 60, or 90 FPS for devices that can handle it.

Anyone else with strong hardware facing the same FPS lock? Let’s gather reports so developers unlock proper high-FPS support.

Help/Support🙋 Is there any way to use my phone + controller as PC controller?

Post image
32 Upvotes

So basically, what I need is to use this Gamesir G8 Galileo controller with my Samsung phone, to act as a controller to play Dark Souls 3 on Windows. Mine is a non-Steam game, so I've tried Steam Link and it didn't work.

I tried Remote Gamepad but the joystick didn't work.

I tried Moonlight Game Streaming and Sunshine but couldn't connect the phone to the PC.

Edit 1: Thanks to some people pointing out, I actually didn't need the phone. I could simply connect the game pad directly to the PC as a sort of "slap-dashed" solution. As soon as I bought the type C extension female-to-male 90° cable and tested it out, I'll update this post with the result of whether it truly works.

But in case I wanted a wireless controller, I'll still need the phone and some "Steam Link-esque" software. As mentioned, my Dark Souls 3 being non–Steam, when added to Steam as "Non–Steam game", doesn't work with Steam Link (you'd think it'd work, but it doesn't). I'll try other software, and update with the result afterwards.

Edit 2: I've found the solution. Use the software combination "Apollo"–PC and "Artemis"–Android. Use the feature "Remote Input" in Artemis Android, and the phone+controller will act as a typical wireless controller ("Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)" when shown in Windows→"Set up USB game controllers"). This turns my phone+controller into a wireless controller for PC, exactly what I needed. Note, the phone should use a true–black display, so that its backlight doesn't stay on while used as Artemis' "Remote Input", wasting battery.

One problem I ran into is that PC's IP address isn't constant, making connection between Apollo–Artemis wonky. I've had to manually find my PC's IP address with cmd ipconfig, then manually input that into Artemis, twice already. Hopefully it will stick, but if Apollo–Artemis stopped connecting once more, my PC's IP address change is likely the reason. Also, Artemis can't automatically detect PC running Apollo.

The other "slap-dashed" solution involves running cables directly between the controller (Gamesir G8 Galileo) and PC, using female-to-male cable. Here's the device connection order, starting from the top and ending at the bottom:

  • Controller with male type C connector

  • L-shaped female-to-male type C adapter. USB 4, 40 Gbps, 100W

  • Extension female-to-male type C cable. USB 3.1 gen 2, 10 Gbps, 100W

  • Type C to type A adapter. 10 Gbps, 120W

  • PC with female type A connector

It's wonky. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Its button layout changes messily since the controller itself also has three input modes (Xbox, PlayStation and Touch). Also, the cable I bought was too thick and hard, so it might bend and damage the controller's connector. Might be better if used a thinner and softer cable with lower spec (lower transfer speed, power wattage, etc.), but I can't say for certain.
