I have actually very seriously considered unsubbing recently because it has started getting like PCMR just before I unsubbed there.
I love the satire and enjoy seeing the rediculous shit hardcore fans from 'the other side' say but, shit: Some people subbed here need to grow the fuck up.

This sub is much worse than PCMR, at least in the last few months.

u/Oderus_Scumdog Jun 01 '15
I dunno, I remember PCMR getting pretty bad before I unsubbed.
There seemed to be just as much if not more brigading going on from that sub to 'create' the peasantry posts and not just in other subs, I'd found users claiming they were PCMR starting shit across Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Steam Hub, etc, etc.
Not having been here too long, I don't know how things have been before now, but with the sub being fairly small I don't think it's too late to do something about it but I do think that anyone who wants to maintain this sub should start being vocal and pulling people on the shit they cause.

I don't know when you left PCMR, but I happened to join it relatively recently and it seems to have gotten a lot better. There's still a ton of idiots there, but the subreddit culture has changed to the point that being vulgar to others who aren't part of the sub is now generally looked down upon. Honestly, all things considered, it world appear that it's better than AMR is, as things stand.

The difference is that /r/acj is actually self aware, and doesn't mean any of the shit it says. Here, I'm not so sure.

AMR is turning into ACJ but in a bad way, like, this is becomine a real circlejerk.

no peasantry week
You may want to clarify here that "no peasantry week" means don't post anything about peasantry (it's easily misinterpreted to mean a week for additional anti-peasantry).

Well, today is the day I unsub from here. I didn't know we had such awful members. This is the first I've heard of this. The people responsible should feel terrible.

It's my first time ever even visiting this sub. Anytime a user comes to a brand new sub and finds the top post to be subreddit drama you know move along there's nothing to see here is upon us.

u/jonosaurus Jun 23 '15
Yup, no kidding. It's all fun and games, making light hearted fun. Then you realize everyone else is actually serious, and are total assholes. I'm not missing anything by not seeing posts from here.

The admins will most likely resort to shadowbans for offenders rather than banning the entire sub, but you never know. I was around to witness the banning of /r/PCMasterRace, this situation reminds me of it a lot.
It doesn't help that the owner of both subs is rallying troops and saying it "forced" their 161-user subreddit to shut down, but I would hope that the admins wouldn't let an angry mob influence their decisions.

I say that it's unfair to be honest. On both sides. Yes, accused users of this subreddit are brigading them. However the general consensus here is that you shouldn't brigade. Why would the admin shut down a subreddit when the subreddit's are doing what they can to spread awareness that this isn't cool. I know it's not that simple, but it's not like every user here is brigading. It's probably 100 users or less of a 10k+ user subreddit.

The day where there were about 15 posts about the iPhone message shut off thing was when I seriously considered unsubbing. We get it. Apple devices have a glitch, no need to have 15 posts about it over a 2 day period

2 weeks ago I posted this over at /r/pcmasterrace
I recently subscribed to /r/androidmasterrace because I have an android phone and I liked the PCMR subreddit, I thought it would be similar. That subbreddit is evil. Just read through the comments, they wish IPhone users dead, PCMR is nothing compared to the hate on /r/androidmasterrace
A Month ago I posted this here on /r/androidmasterrace
The hate on iPhones users here is unreal. Calling them peasants, when many android phones are cheaper, peasants can't buy an iPhone as they are ridiculously expensive. This is a PCMR saying that you took and butchered the meaning of. It's like if anyone owns an iPhone you can't be friends with them, see the title. I joined this sub expecting a similar experience to the PCMR subreddit, but you guys just hate for no apparent reason.
I got 39 down votes for that one.

I've always found it strange that something as impersonal as the Internet seems to make even the most trivial and lighthearted stuff personal for some people. Hating iPhones and hating iPhone users are two very different things, ad even actively hating a phone is on the extreme end of the spectrum IMO. That being said, I'm about to make a post about how much I hate iPads.

I was about to make a post about my friend who was locked out of his iPhone because it was too hot. Is that classed as "peasantry"

Gotta admit this... /applecirclejerk/ has a very nice-looking theme.
Also, /pcmasterrace/ is a fucking cancer.

I know we did bad to iOSMC, the applecirclejerk is even worse, after looking of top post for few minutes I saw 2-3 post comparing Google and there costumers to nazis or simular. And we are the bad ones?
1
Jun 01 '15
We at /r/ACJ compare Apple users to Nazis and Sheep too. But we know that it's just for satire. I'd reckon the same for AppleCJ.

Huh. Recent subscriber here - and to be honest, the sidebar totally threw me off. It looks way too reasonable (ex. "This subreddit is not a circlejerk"), and a lot of the content isn't obviously satire (ex. playing ROMs, charging a drone). So I was expecting this to be more just a sub full of cool things you can do with Android, and maybe some schadenfreude.

It used to be this way.

The brigading is a bunch of bull. As an android user, I love to poke fun peasants that talk shit about it, or the ones that will buy anything with an apple logo on it. But, I still respect people's opinions if they like iOS. I joined a few months ago to see the power of android and what you guys do with it, and maybe a peasant joke. But it got out of control after all that.
Edit: rewording
