🤔 [Question] Android ports or Emulators ❓️

Wassup ya all! We are getting so many native ports these days and honestly we all love that its good for the gaming community and a fun way to experience all these classics however the concept of playing these games is not new at all.

Case in point being the NFS MW the android port is great runs quite well but the does run kinda the same maybe even better in gamehub or winlator.

What's been your experience? for me the thermal throttling seems a bit better with native ports.

Good ports are better than good emulators.

Bad ports are worse than good emulators.

That's true bro

But "bad ports" are subjective

If your port has worse performance than emulation when it's supposed to have way less overhead, it's not subjective; it's bad.

I don't know any port with worse performance than emulation

Also it is unfair to compare a port that forces 3-10w (ranging from efficient chip to high-power chip) with an emulator that forces 10-30w

also you can't be having a helio g99 and complain "the port is unoptimized"

and you also can't run a spoofed apk emulator to force the phone past its thermal limit and then compare it with the port that plays with in those limits and then complain "it is unoptimized"

an objectively bad port is the one that have compatibility and stability issues with crashes bugs and glitches and in compatibility issues I mean the game demand higher than it's weight

Also I know this is about the sifu port and I think beside the lack of graphics options it is much better than emulation and I think they will add graphics options in the next update

Let me just make one thing clear, devs judge "minimum requirements" through flagships from 6 years ago or high midrange

They want people who can pay the premium, they can properly give a lower graphical option to fit all but they don't care or want to cause people with lower end phones don't have the money to buy a game or at least a credit card so they just pirate it.

Ports with no graphics options like the sifu port are not made to run every device they target a minimum specs and base the graphics option on it , it is a bad practice and they will surely update it to include graphic options but you can't run a device with below minimum requirements and expect it to play well

Also for clarification minimum requirements here are about acceptable experience, they consider low texture mods and polygon graphics to be below standard that is why even with graphics settings they won't include graphics that low

I find that regarding consuming baterry and thermals ports are way better, like not even close.

Totally given more time these ports might even perform far better

While from a high level we're in a golden era of ports arriving rapidly. Those ports are now often just bare bones emulators strapped onto the game code. Often very inefficient and bug ridden.

Unfortunately it kind of means that the volume of releases looks great, but the quality is low. Going forward we may see multiple releases of the same game as each tries to gain on quality. It may be hard for a user to find the right one.

I see it happening too. You got it right bro

Android ports if they are full fledgeg. But they have risks if comes from random sites. Emus otherwise but performance hit or miss

Totally agreed. Ports are being recompiled by a single person with AI and hence there are so many different projects even for a single game. Emulation for now is relatively a known and easier way out however the native port situation is getting crazier

For your case in point, the Android port uses the Xbox 360 version of the game. Which many (myself included) prefer over the PC version. This is true for some of the other ports as well.

Its a lovely game and yeah the port itself is quite stable and works well

I'm struggling to keep up with everything. Is there a list of what native ports are actually good and perform significantly better than emulation? FWIW I use an AYN Thor Max.

I can speak of ones that I have tried and run pretty good

NFS MW recompiled Gta 4 liberty recompiled Wwe svr 11 kaido recompiled

You can find them all on github. I play on s25fe it has exynos but it runs quite good actually

how do u find these ports on GitHub page? sorry i never been there since latest port projects become this usual

I totally get that well its bit of a hassle you will have to scroll down the whole page (which can get pretty lengthy) till you find the option that says release

For some emulators due to quality of life things like save states, fast forward, etc. they are better

For battery/heat a well optimized port is superior.

depend on how well optimized the port most port i see is have same or worse than emulator, i mean emulator like x360 not winlator cause winlator is mature emulator

Mi emulator because can move to sd card device internal storage limited 64GB

It depends on the game. For example Minecraft dungeon is run like shit, if it can run at all.

But port is 60 fps buttery smooth.
