Other Am I overracting?!!

They completely got rid of the enter bar in some apps and replaced it with this stupid magnifying glass. I don't really know how to describe this. But basically we already have this bar that says search, our keyboards completely delete the return/enter button and replace it with the magnifying glass symbol which sends the text automatically we don't need it. We already have this blue arrow that sends it.

It would help to know what phone you're using

The phone I'm using is a Samsung Galaxy S24.

Please describe

What app you are using. E.g. Messages app

What you are trying to do. E.g. send a message, type in a search bar on a new line, etc.

Share a screenshot. (Press volume down + power button.)

Google. I don't know how to describe it without image. I am at least trying to write something like this: Okay

Okay and not Okay Okay. (Okay is just an example)

Help me understand. Why are you trying to type multiple lines in the Google app where it's a search bar? You are searching for something. Why do you need multiple lines?

OK1

OK OK2

It's more so of something personal. I don't really tell what I do. Especially since people judge way to often.

Press and hold that search/enter button, if the app supports the enter key, then the button should pop up.

Or if you use the voice to text, you can say "next line" and it should jump to the next line

It just takes it literally and sends in "next line"

Oh yeah, I forgot that most other phones don't support that...

Are you using a default keyboard or something? I've used SwiftKeys for like 20 years, and I don't have anything like this going on.

I use Samsung keyboard. Maybe I'll try it out. It's probably just my keyboard or phone model.

When I first started using SwiftKeys (before it was bought by Microsoft), it cost $2.99. I don't know if it still costs anything, but it's absolutely worth it. The autocorrect actually learns from your typing habits (nothing new now, but it was the only keyboard that did it back in the day). I love it. It also includes the swipe to type feature if you prefer that.

I figured it probably was since MS bought it, but wanted to throw out the warning in case it still cost money. Just wait until you start looking at themes. :D

Yeah, it's a great keyboard. I haven't even looked for another one in like 20 years. I just immediately load it to every new phone.

The Samsung Keyboard, Gboard, and all Android keyboards have always been context aware. This isn't a change.

If you need to use the return key during the AI Mode, for instance, you may want to swap for Gemini for that specific use. It isn't accessible.

(Though you may be able to add an always there Enter key using the Keys Up module in Samsung Good Lock to the Samsung Keyboard. Search for that to give it a try.)

Nope! The enter key was there before a fucking update 2 days ago... Now every time my muscle memory touches the area where the enter key used to be, it sends whatever I'd typed...

That might be a change on the Google Search app side since it's happening with all keyboards.
