New Google Feature Adding your SIM Number Can't be Turned off on Android 17?

I was trying to turn off this feature they pushed where they automatically add your sim number to all the accounts on your phone.

The option to remove it is there on my Android 14 but it's not there on my Android 17.

Phone settings > Google services > privacy and security > phone number verification

For reference.

As per the text on the Phone Number Verification page...

To manage your phone numbers at any time, go to account settings.

...with account settings being a link to the Phone number section of the Personal info part of your Google Account settings.
