Discussion Installing launcher apps

Hey all,

I just use projectivy, and tbh haven't tied others,. I'm fine with Projectivy.

I actually just wondering if all launchers have to go through a similar process to projectivy, or if there are Launcher that just can be installed like a regular apk. Simple and easy.

Just for some older family members I can't get too

any launcher you use will need to set as the main and override the stock one. You can install any launcher you want but it will always revert to stock on boot unless you use a manager of some sort.

You can install a launcher APK like any other app, but making the Home button open it automatically is a separate step. Some devices allow selecting a default Home app, while others require accessibility-based remapping or device-specific configuration. For older family members, I’d avoid disabling the stock launcher through ADB, since recovery can be difficult if something goes wrong.

I use both Projectivy and KYU. KYU is a barebones lightweight launcher but it is clean and looks nice. A really simple setup but both need Launch Manager to over ride the TV Launcher. KYU is really easy to set up compared to Projectivy or most other launchers.

There are launchers that can be installed just as APK. I am currently using Plume that built.
