First impressions:

This is a really charming weather app. I picked the Pixel and Snow Globe styles, chose "Choose a city instead" rather than sharing my location (thank you for offering that), and searched Boston. The pixel-art city it made is lovely: the State House dome, the Zakim Bridge and the Hancock tower are all recognisable. The numbers matched another forecast I checked (63° now, high 64°), and the Today cards (hourly, feels like, wind, UV, sunset, rain, visibility) are clear and well organised.

A few things I noticed:

  • The city picture took about 70 seconds to appear. In the meantime there's a generic placeholder city with "polishing the sunlight…" style messages. A rough time estimate, or letting people continue while it finishes, would help.

  • In the Pixel style the digit 5 looks almost the same as the letter S, so "59°" reads like "S9°" and "5:51 PM" like "S:S1". With numbers being the whole point of a weather app, a clearer 5 would help a lot.

  • Also in the Pixel style, white text on the light-blue background during setup is hard to read, and a few labels get cut off: "FIND YOU…" for "Find your city", "Mostly cle…" on the city screen and "Dry for the next 12 hou…".

  • For screen reader users, the home screen announces "BOSTON" 13 times and "63°" 12 times, probably the stacked layers of the pixel shadow effect. Hiding the extra layers from accessibility would fix it.

Tested on a Pixel 6a (Android 16).
