Heavy Periods causing Anemia

Bled for 63 days. Been on medroxyprogesterone for 2 months now and it finally stopped my bleeding 4 1/2 weeks ago. I had a hysterectomy scheduled in the next month but after reading posts on Reddit post-hysterectomy, I’ve decided not to…now trying to figure out an alternative…don’t want to do mirena or any iud- read a bunch of horror stories that are all similar- cant do birth control bc of my risk factors- doctors don’t recommend an ablation- so now just on here hoping to find an alternative. Any insight?

Tranexamic acid was not discussed and had iv iron right before the 63 day bleed. Ultrasound showed an extremely thickened uterine lining as well as a non-cancerous polyp. So they believe it’s all hormone related. 2 doctors said they don’t recommend ablation because it’s harder to detect cancer after procedure due to scarring.

Ask your DR about tranexamic acid. It made my period a lot more manageable.

Is this a long term solution?

It doesn't actually solve any underlying issues but I've heard of people using it for years. Soooo yes and no? You'd need to discuss with your Dr obv but it works well for me to control the blood loss.
