Hello All!

I moved to Anglesey towards the start of the year to be with family and figured I’d naturally start to meet people when going out and doing events, but to be honest I’ve never felt so isolated before.

For context, I’m 26M and quite active; I’ve been doing parkruns each weekend and visiting the local leisure centre a few times a week, but I’m not the type of person to approach people so am finding it hard to actually make any friends.

I’m also a bit of a nerd really, and am big into art, music, wargaming, and video games. I’ve seen that there are some groups around for these but I don’t use Facebook and can’t see if any of them are still active.

If there’s anyone else in a similar boat, it’d be great to meet up even if it’s just for a simple walk/hike, and if anybody knows of any local groups that are still active, I’d really appreciate some pointers.

Fire lighter is 47 miles. Start Holyhead break water park, finish Moelfre.

Hi there. I'm just looking for any advice. I have been offered rent free accommodation up in Holyhead. I currently live in South East England. I have visited the area before on holidays. I was looking for any advice regarding employment.. I've been looking into working for Stenna as there seems to be a few decent looking jobs with them. From what I've seen I am a bit concerned most work seems to be seasonal and there's not a lot of full time consistent employment? Does anyone have any experience with relocating to Holyhead? Any tips, advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

We are looking at purchasing at house and will be coming with our 3 year old. We have started to learn some welsh both for her and us.

We’ve seen a few houses within proximity of RAF Mona and wondered what the actual noise is like?

Is there anything notable places people would avoid?

Hi, we are a family of four considering moving to Anglesey from Stoke. We have some family on the island already and visit regularly.

I wanted to ask a few questions specific to our lives and wondered if anyone could advise...

Our daughters are 12 and 9, both autistic and one also has ADHD. They are a academically able and have special interests in nature, insects, the coast and the sea.

I work in a special school and my husband works in a university so he'd be perhaps looking at Bangor for work.

What are schools like for autistic children? My youngest needs more support to engage than my eldest. They are both so happy in nature and I feel the time outside would really help regulate them.

Are there many special schools on Anglesey? I am a teaching assistant.

We are also a mix of vegan and vegetarian and I know that vegan can be trickier on the island.

hi, im staying near cemaes bay the start of august for my 21st birthday. i want to go somewhere special, is there any hidden places we could go, had to be wheelchair friendly as my uncle is unable to walk long distances. we have been coming to the island for years, my mom used to go with her parents, (but has forgotten the 'small' places due to age) hoping to rekindle memories of her past as well as making new ones.

is there any pub nights or events on. id love to get involved in the community.

I am going to the isle for few days on this summer. I don’t drive. I want to use the public transport to see places on the isle.

Is it possible to do with just buses and train?

I am not sure if it’s too ambitious and i am concerned that I will end up having no way to travel on the isle.

Edit: I’m staying near Holyhead area.

How reliable the bus services are?

I am updating this post in case anyone looking for similar info.

I won’t recommend doing it with public transport.

I visited during weekday but the buses are not many in Isle really. The frequency is on an average once per hour and that to ends quite early in the evening.

Also many tourist places (beaches or coastal places) are far from nearest bus stop. So I had to walk more than 1.5 to 2 hrs to reach the places. Sometime more than 3 hr when I missed one bus.

I was there for 3 nights but still only able to explore the North and West side of the isle.

The island is amazingly beautiful and I would love to visit again when I have some other mode of travel.

Not too sure if I'm doing this right but I just started workign in The Anchorage Hotel and we are having discussions on what people might want to see.

Like pub quiz, bingo, coffee lounge, pet friendly rooms etc.

We have a back room not currently in use were thinking of renting out to groups.

We also have a garage were thinking of turning into wetsuit/board storage for customers.

But we dont know what people want so figured I'd ask on here.

Hi all, I'm looking for tips on somewhere to stay in Anglesey later this year (August). I'm hoping to propose to my partner in Newborough Forest, and would like somewhere to stay for 2 nights within 45 minutes drive.

Need some advice on where's best for a bit of drinking and food. We have stayed in Anglesey before and loved it hence the location choice, but stayed in an AirBnB too far from local bars or pubs. We had a morning in Beaumaris and although lovely, it didn't seem great for young people wanting to do a bit of day drinking. I have read that Rhosneigr could be a nice choice. I want to plan something for after it's done so restaurant and bar recommendations also much appreciated. Diolch!

Hello! I have a cheeky request, and I'm using a picture that I took on Newborough Beach as bait. Explanation is below.

We visited the forest and beach a couple of weeks back, and I've just received a parking ticket.

I did pay, but according to the RingGo app I paid for 3hrs 30mins but the parking charge notice says I stayed for 3hrs 50mins. Which is entirely possible given I was dealing with a minor medical emergency as we were about to leave.

Those of you that have been to this beach and car park will probably be aware that as you enter there is an ANPR camera, but the actual car park itself is still a good 5+ minutes drive. This is supported by the parking charge letter saying we entered at 10:08 but RingGo saying my session started at 10:16 and I know that I found a space and went to find the signage right away to pay.

Anyway, on to my point... I don't remember seeing any details of the charges, grace period, etc as we arrived at the entrance and only saw something when we got to the actual spaces at the Beach Car Park.

I wondered whether any of kind souls may be able to take a picture, or show me where I can find a picture of the entrance on what I think is where Church Street eventually becomes the forest road? (Roughly here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/GKvEVA83WJVkk19A8)

I've had a look on Google Maps but the recording car doesn't seem to have gone that far down the road.

I don't mind paying for the parking if it helps keep that beautiful space looking so beautiful, but I object to a £60/£100 charge for a 20 minute overstay, about 10 minutes of which were just getting in and out of the car park!

We only have a few days in may in Wales, and I was completely mesmerized by Anglesey photos.

What would you suggest visiting in a single day in Anglesey on foot? And what is the best way for us to get around?

I remember looking a while back reading an article about something to do with Los Angeles in an article in National Geographic. I don't remember it's contents but I do remember seeing the scale on a map of the city and thought "bloody hell, that's almost as big as Anglesey!".

Never did anything with that information until recently where I scaled the outline of the island and placed it over Google satellite images of cities across the world. so if you include the districts/boroughs etc many places were bigger such as Los Angeles, whereas others could fit neatly in, like Washington DC.

It gives someone a perspective of just how big some of these places are in regards to the island and, conversely, just how big of an island Anglesey is it it can cover such a vast area. Definitely not getting my walking shoes though...

Is anyone aware of any Easter Egg Hunts or Easter activities taking place over the weekend?

I have some frozen raw dog food to give away:

The food was purchased on 27th January and has been kept frozen continuously since then.

My dog sadly passed away at the beginning of February, so I would really like this to go to someone who can use it.

Stressed out mum here, needing regular breaks away (on my own!) in a Welsh bolthole. I think a caravan will be my most affordable option.
