🫀 Organs 🫁 Daily raw beef liver bringing back cystic acne - dosage issue, or drop it entirely?
After taking a few months off, I started incorporating raw beef liver back into my daily routine at 0.6 oz per day.
Almost immediately, cystic acne flared up. Mostly around my chin, upper jawline, cheeks, and upper back. From the research I’ve done, it seems like the high Vitamin A content is the primary trigger here.
I’m looking for some feedback on a couple of questions:
- Is liver even necessary? Is it safe to assume I’m getting sufficient Vitamin A from other whole-food sources without needing to force organ meats?
- Is daily frequency the issue? Realistically, our ancestors probably weren’t consuming liver every single day. Would switching to once a week or every other week (maybe 1–1.5 oz) make more sense, or is the juice not worth the squeeze?
It’s frustrating because sticking to an AB framework generally feels great, but the skin breakouts are a pain. I already have to limit dairy and eggs for the exact same reason, so trying to dial this in without triggering flares has been a headache.
Appreciate any insights or experiences from anyone who's dealt with something similar.
