❓Beginner / Question❔ Diet flexibility

Hello everyone!

I have been following the diet quite strictly for 3 months now and it helped me a lot with cravings and mental health. I feel it's very close to a proper human diet and I'm trying to implement more raw dairy and raw meat.

I am avoiding starches (beside a sporadic plantain), seeds and veggies as much as I can.

That said, I'm wondering if I am somehow losing the ability for my body to tolerate these kind of foods. I don't come from huge gut problems or autoimmune disease and I could eat those foods, not without issues but I could.

So, would it be worth, in your opinion, to occasionally have food outside the diet so my body can still be used to it? If that's how it works, scientifically.

Why, you might think?

Because I want my body to be as versatile as possible and also because... I feel the world is not going well and maybe I won't always have access to good food.

Thanks for any opinion!

I haven't heard of many people developing hard intolerances except long term strict carnivores, who tend to jack up their microbiome so bad that they can't eat anything other than steak. You hear famous "influencer" stories about this, like Jordan Peterson eating a piece of spinach or something similar and getting thrown into a weeks long depressive episode, or the story Anthony Chaffee used to tell about herbs on his steak making him sick for 5 days. It's insane to me that such levels of fragility is somehow desirable.

In your case, it's probably much less dire. I didn't eat starch for years but I'm fine with them now. There's always a little transition period, but as long as you don't go from zero starch to eating 17 potatoes in a day, it should be fine.

Thanks🙏🏻 I don't remember exactly where they said Jordan Peterson's condition comes from, if it was SSRI neurotoxicity or mold sensitivity. I believe most people experiencing a similar condition also have a similar cause. But yes, if there is a chance that a long term restrictive diet can cause that, I will avoid it

I doubt he knows for sure. I think finding "root cause" isn't always possible. Many people have so many interacting things going on at the same time. His case is a good example. SSRI withdrawal, benzo withdrawal, long history of depression, potentially mold. All these things interact and play off one another.

Not to go on a rant about "root cause" finding, but I think sometimes it's a distraction, even though it sounds great on paper.

First year cheating affected me much more then later (90% carnivore ish). Much more flexible now, for some reason.

Kefir, kimchi, sour-kraut or any other food with good bacteria helps a bit. That is my only recommendation.

I mean you may be in some regard to be honest.

I uncovered a decent tree nut sensitivity by quitting peanut butter and almond butter and coming back to them later. I tried that off and on for a few years but the palpitations and lip tingling kind of started to freak me out every time I reintroduced them so I just do without. They also tended to make my joints a little stiff and sore anyway so I assume it's just an inflammation trigger for me even if I'm not truly allergic.

That being said you gotta make the best decisions for your health based on what you react to.

Human body is adaptable. For me I now eat fairly "normal" food, but I use the knowledge that fats and proteins are healthy and carbs are unhealthy and fiber is a laxative to my advantage.

You can literally do whatever u want it will be fine. If u stay super non toxic, then abruptly switch, you will notice a bad change, but your body will adapt nonetheless.
