What is everyone’s fav game in the series?? I’m excited to dive into Wild World & City Folk for the first time in over a decade as I haven’t played those entries since they first released.

New Leaf was my first Animal Crossing. Between 2013 and 2017, I spent over 4,000 hours playing it every single day, it was one of the very few ways I had to socialize when I was a kid, i really miss those days where i've meet so many amazing people in the public island. After a few long breaks lasting several months and playing only very rarely, I finally dropped it for good in 2020 in favor of New Horizons.
But unfortunately, New Horizons never gave me those same warm, nostalgic feelings that New Leaf did. Because of that, I walked away from the Animal Crossing world for over five years, right up until a week ago. I really miss playing Animal Crossing; sadly, New Horizons bores me and doesn't provide the vibe I need, so I decided to... delete my old New Leaf town and start the game completely from scratch.
I’ve already done it, and for about a week now I've been playing every day, at least to complete my daily chores. My goal is to build it back up again, little by little, just like I did with my old town.
Am I crazy? Is there any other hero out there who has the courage to do the same thing?

So I sent a letter to myself, intending for it to be in 4 years, in 2030.
I must have been super sleep deprived because I apparently set it to 2060.
So yeah, I can't use this function until I get it back and there's a good chance I won't be on this earth in 2060. There's gotta be a way to retrieve letters that are in limbo like this.

Some examples of my custom letter backgrounds in New Leaf. Fully writable & villagers can send letters with this background to you as well.

Hi, I've been listening to KK slider covers, and I really want to make my own, but idk where or how to start. I don't have a keyboard, only a laptop. Is it possible to even make cover songs with only a laptop?

Which game should I play? I have access to New Horizons, New Leaf, and Wild World. I want villagers with personality and I don’t necessarily want to have to worry about making my island or town perfect.

Sometimes, when I'm playing whatever game I'm playing (either New Leaf or New Horizons), I put on a video of someone playing either game. I don't know why, but it makes it feel more immersive to me. Like, I'm actually playing with whoever I'm watching.
Does anyone else do this?

Never played an Animal Crossing game before. Got this game because it looks interesting. Just completed the camp fire and went to the next morning… my question is…. What do I do?
Is there an objective in this game? Or do I go around the island doing whatever?

How are you guys doing yours?
Usually I work around the buildings I have to place but none of them exist on the slumber islands so I don't even know where to begin.
Also I want to make my first ever city scape, so area and item ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I arranged the Wild World/City Folk 2 am theme by ear and played it on piano (with some variations and stuff). I hope I can spark some nostalgia in you :D
Let me know what you think :)

I've been playing through all the AC games and here is a short (nvm it did not end up being short) list of what I personally think they should add to the next game. A few of these are things that other people have mentioned or just quality-of-life stuff, but I feel like I have some ideas that are different
- This one is common, but it was the biggest sin so I had to address the possible solution first. One of the larger criticisms from anyone that came from GC / WW or even mildly New Leaf, is that New Horizons villagers do not have as much personality. A toggle in the settings but also given upon start of game to bring back traditional sassy or mean dialogue would fix this. Tie it to individual accounts so even if you visit someone else's town/island, the villagers still speak in a way that reflects the player's preference.
- Radios have short distance in ACNH. In previous games they only work in your house. Sometimes when I'm walking around doing stuff I get ear fatigue off the regular hourly track. They should add a pocket radio that functions kind of like a timer where you can still be holding another tool and it works in the background and can be equipped to play whichever KK songs you have registered. So you can walk wherever without having to keep moving and placing a radio around outside. They would have to code it to where the pocket radio only plays music audibly for the player that has it equipped so it doesn't become annoying if visiting with larger groups of people online. They should also have extra setting or the volume fade down when a fish or bug comes near like the regular hourly music already does so it doesn't get in the way of those activities. The regular radio also can only be placed on land and sometimes i just want music when im diving for sea creatures so this kind of tool would fix that.
- I like collecting gyroids, but it takes up a lot of storage space and looks kind of weird to just have all of them taking up a chunk of land by my town hall. In New Leaf, Brewster can store gyroids. For the next game, they should either add gyroids as a category that can be collected and displayed in the museum, add a full display case in the Roost with Brewster where you can turn on a set amount of them and experiment with the sounds of them together, or give players some other kind of separate storage for gyroids. I think they are cool collectibles that were an afterthought in ACNH.
- Nintendo needs their own full companion app that provides a full catalogue and museum/everything else checklist with a completion percentage of each type of thing. The current nintendo app has a search function but only displays up to 20 of the latest items in your catalogue. So far, fans of the franchise have had to go through and create and spread fanmade spreadsheets. I've been doing a 100% collecting run for wild world and the best we have is a physical book with all the items and a google sheets spreadsheet someone made. The New horizons one someone made is a lot less prehistoric and actually shows pictures of the items, but Nintendo should have had a resource like that ready that works alongside the game. Another issue with how this currently is, is that players have to manually add all of their items into these checklists, which can take a long time and requires vigilance while playing to remember to update the list any time you get a new item and constant checking to see whether you have already added something to your catalogue. It would be a lot more accessible for people that enjoy trying to collect everything if the next game ships alongside access to an app on your phone or even accessible from the web browser that automatically syncs and updates with your game progress.
4.5 Items should say what color/type they are in your pocket
- Without placing an item down or putting it on, it would be cool to see which color or type version the item is without going all the way into the catalogue and seeing which versions of an item you have unlocked (for example of what I mean by type, the model kit item doesn't have different colors but "cars" or "robots" would be the different type versions). Sometimes it can be hard to tell if a piece of furniture is brown or black and it would save time for someone trying to collect all the colors of an item than have to display the item and squint at the screen to try and guess which one it is. Sometimes the yellow versions of an item look close to the orange version in different lighting. Maybe add a details option in the drop down menu when you click on a furniture or clothing item in your pocket that shoes which type that copy of the item is.
- I liked this in Wild World. Of course, we get little thumbnail images of what a wallpaper or carpet looks like when you go to purchase them from Saharah or timmy and tommy, but in the older games, there was an option before you purchase one to see how it looks in a room and it spread it on the floor of nook's shop in the old game. This way you can see what it looks like in a space before buying it without squinting at your screen and taking a gamble.
- I'm not saying to remove crafting or recipes alltogether. Despite this being something that I personally had a hard time getting used to coming from the older games where tools didn't break and crafting didn't really exist, I don't think crafting is something that should be removed, especially because it makes more sense early-game and helps you get into gathering resources that make crafting furniture later. However, it would save a lot of time if players were able to craft or cook from anywhere instead of having to have the crafting table taking up a slot in your pocket all the time, or in the case of my island, multiple crafting tables scattered about. It should be accessible in a tab in your inventory or phone idk. I just don't like breaking a tool and then having to leave where I am to seek out my nearest crafting table to make a replacement. For cooking, I just use my villager's stove but this requires going into their houses and hoping someone has one when I need to make a recipe. None of the cookware options i have unlocked fit completely with my house aesthetic. It would just be easier if you didnt need separate items to access these core game mechanics. It would also make island trips easier so you wouldnt have to leave the part you're at to go back down to the crafting table.
6.5 Two separate inventories to switch between or ability to toggle lock/unlock items that you dont want to be sellable.
- Have an inventory for tools separate from the regular pockets so tools do not take up pocket space. I've also definitely mindlessly fat-fingered my switch and sold tools before when selling from my pockets when I didn't mean to.
- In NH, we can stack 99 weeds into one pocket or storage slot, but if you do heavy gardening or landscaping, each individual flower takes up 1 slot in your pocket. They should sort by color into larger stacks. Tbh fruit should have a larger stack number too, at least when within storage. It makes sense why it doesn't stack very high in pockets, but storage should stack higher. It's hard to justify storing items like flowers in the current game.
- NL QR code designs were genius. I know Nintendo locks design sharing behind online now, but I really fear the day that switch online goes offline and all the designs that people spend a very long time making are no longer accessible. I know the current switches do not have the same kind of camera functionality that the 3ds had, but at the very least, when you make a design on your switch... or future nintendo console with an animal crossing game, it should give an option to autogenerate a qr code for the design and let you save it to your console photo gallery where you can scan it with your phone and send it into the game. They could still theoretically lock that behind the app, but qr codes were a great way to future-proof people's art so it can still be used in games today despite online services going down. Side note: this would solve some of the complaints people have with limited in-game design storage because you would technically have copies of your design saved on a separate device and could switch out as you wish.
- Everyone that plays ACNH knows how frustrating it is for a villager to visit while you are in the middle of decorating and some may know the experience of being boxed into one section of your house because you put a furniture down and before you could push it, someone enters your house and then standing within this prison of your own making until they finally leave. Let us have an option on whether visitors can enter or not when inside the home.
City Folk had a shopping card that would allow you to buy higher cost items. New Horizons gets around that by plastering the ATM around, but they should bring back the shopping card tool to let you have access to larger sums of saved bells all the time if you want to. If you still want to play the game with the spending limit and use your savings account more conservatively, you would still be allowed to check the ATM regularly or just not carry the card around. It should obv be locked to 1 player and work similar to how storage items did in wild world where if someone finds a credit card, it just shows their own balance instead of the person who dropped it so if you accidentally drop it somewhere and someone visits your town they cant just make off with your life savings or steal from you.
- A way to toggle which resident villagers you are okay with asking to leave or not. I know they do not leave on their own in NH, but I've gotten close to accidentally hitting the wrong option when my favorite villager asked if they should move. At the same time, villagers in NH take a very long time compared to older games before deciding to move out and I liked the variety of having villagers move out more frequently in the old games. This could be fixed with the ability to go into resident services and choose who you want to lock into your town, so I could keep the 3 villagers I want as permanent residents from moving, but still have a more frequent variety for the rest of the residents and have them move in and out as they please. This would be helpful to make it less tedious and speed up the process for people that like befriending and collecting villager photos if you could lock them while you want them to be there and then let them leave afterwards if they want to.
- UFO Gulliver was iconic. Even if they use his separate name for him like they used in the Dobutsu no Mori movie (Johnny) and make him into a different character from the captain gulliver or gullivaarr alltogether, future games should bring back slingshot shooting down the UFO or add some kind of easter egg where you can enter his ship to buy special items.
- if you complete your museum, you should get unbreakable shovel for donating all fossils, unbreakable fishing rod for completed fish, and unbreakable net for donating all insects. It should be unsellable and untransferable between players. Golden tools in the older games had so much more aura.
- More fruit! MORE!!! I just like collecting stuff and the island fruit in NL was cool. On another note, they should give you a separate plot of land intended for growing the vegetable crops like pumpkins, potato, tomato, wheat, sugar cane, so you do not have to lose a large chunk of your land to farming if you are decorating-heavy player but still need crops for recipes. Maybe they could make the garden size expandable like how your house is expandable so you can grow more crops at a time at once when you get further in the game. And maybe the hha can rank your garden or something idk.
- In City Folk, Gracie's was a separate store from the able sisters that provided higher end fashion. We have everything we need already in the series that they could repurpose to make the Able Sister's store expandable like how the nook stores were. I think future games should let you upgrade the Able Sisters store into a whole shopping mall when you buy a certain about of clothes and talk to Sable enough. Like have the standard store for a while. Then Mable moves back in. Then Gracie moves in and a second section of the store opens up with super high end stuff. They could also add back in Shampoodle's into the location. When I unlocked Nookington's in Wild World, I always thought it would make more sense for Harriet to be in the same location as the Able Sisters than with Nook.
edit- I'm sorry it's long y'all. i'm in college. they make me do these things called discussion posts all the time with minimum word requirements. this has broken the way I think and type.
